What is an MPI developer?

MPI developers are software engineers or programmers who specialize in using the Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard to create parallel applications, primarily for high-performance computing (HPC) environments. They design, implement, and optimize code that allows multiple computers or processors to work together efficiently by communicating and sharing data. MPI developers often work in fields like scientific computing, engineering simulations, and data analysis, where large-scale computations are required. Their expertise includes understanding parallel algorithms, distributed computing, and troubleshooting issues related to parallel performance.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an MPI developer?

To thrive as an MPI Developer, you need strong proficiency in parallel programming concepts, C/C++ or Fortran, and a solid understanding of distributed computing, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with the Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard, experience using HPC clusters, and knowledge of debugging and profiling tools are essential. Excellent problem-solving skills, teamwork, and clear communication help you collaborate effectively with researchers and engineers on complex projects. These skills are crucial for developing high-performance, scalable software that efficiently utilizes computing resources in scientific and engineering environments.

What are common challenges MPI developers face when working on large-scale distributed systems?

MPI Developers often encounter challenges related to debugging and optimizing parallel code across multiple nodes, especially when scaling to thousands of processes. Issues like process synchronization, deadlocks, and communication bottlenecks can arise and require strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with MPI debugging tools. Additionally, ensuring efficient data distribution and minimizing latency between nodes are critical for performance, making collaboration with system administrators and hardware specialists essential. Regular code reviews and performance profiling are common practices to address these challenges effectively.

What is the difference between Mpi Developer vs Software Engineer?

AspectMpi DeveloperSoftware Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Computer Science or related field, MPI programming experienceBachelor's or higher in Computer Science, programming skills

Job description

About IntelePeer.ai:
Intelepeer/ Aqurio is building the intelligent communications layer for ambulatory healthcare. As a Forward Deployed Ambulatory Healthcare Integration Engineer, you operate directly inside customer implementations - bridging clinical operations with Aqurio's AI automation platform. This role requires deep, native technical fluency across ambulatory and specialty EHR and Practice Management Systems, with a primary index on athenahealth and ModMed (EMA/gGastro), alongside specialty-specific platforms in Dental and Eye Care.
Rather than relying on third-party middleware aggregators, you design directly against native vendor APIs, manage webhook subscriptions, and untangle complex scheduling matrices to deploy resilient, deterministic scheduling automation at scale.
Job Summary:
As a Forward Depoloyed integration engineer you will build, configure, test, and deploy the AI voice agents that power patient-facing interactions for healthcare customers. You are a core member of the delivery team - translating workflow design specifications into production-grade agent configurations, integrating real-time data from EHR and scheduling systems, and ensuring every deployed agent performs reliably and accurately against its defined success criteria.
Responsibilities:• Serve as Aqurio's internal SME for athenahealth and ModMed platform integrations.
• athenahealth: Navigate the MDP (More Disruption Please) API ecosystem - manage API subscription webhooks, handle practice-specific department/provider mappings, execute complex patient matching (MPI), and architect deterministic appointment booking/cancellation logic using athena's native endpoints.
• ModMed: Leverage ModMed's Developer APIs across EMA (Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology) and gGastro - map specialty-specific clinical workflows, procedure block scheduling, and intake requirements into platform logic.
Specialty-Specific Workflow Discovery
• Run technical discovery with practice administrators and clinical informatics leads across outpatient domains:
• Dental (Dentrix, Open Dental): operatory/chair availability, provider vs. hygienist multi-column scheduling, CDT procedure code durations, and recall cycles.
• Eye Care (RevolutionEHR, Eyefinity): pre-testing lane allocations, dilation buffer windows, doctor exam slots, optical vs. medical visit types.
• GI & Urology: procedure block scheduling, pre-procedure prep timing buffers, facility/surgeon pairings.
Direct EHR Integration Architecture
• Design and implement bi-directional workflows directly against native PMS/EHR endpoints for slot discovery, real-time locking, booking, confirmations, cancellations, and reschedules.
• Navigate practice-specific intake and patient verification workflows including duplicate checking, demographic validation, custom MPI rules, guarantor setup, and new vs. established patient criteria.
Custom Adapter & Pipeline Engineering
• Write lightweight Python/TypeScript connectors, data transformations, and webhook listeners that interface directly with ambulatory EHR APIs - no third-party aggregation wrappers.
• Own end-to-end technical onboarding during customer pilots, validating scheduling logic against live clinic calendars and resolving edge cases (template overrides, overbooking permissions, frozen slot handling).
Supervisory Duties:
This is an IC role
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelors in computer science or relevant industry
Key Competencies:
• Prior experience in healthcare technology, with working knowledge of EHR/PM platforms and an understanding of HIPAA data handling requirements.
• Familiarity with IntelePeer SmartFlow, Genesys, Amazon Connect, Nuance, or similar CCaaS/CPaaS platforms.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-based agent development, including prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns in production contexts.
• Experience with voice-specific technical concepts including ASR/TTS configuration, telephony integration, DTMF handling, and latency-sensitive response tuning.
• Background contributing to team engineering standards - testing frameworks, build checklists, documentation templates, or reusable component libraries.
Physical Requirements:
• Sedentary work lifting no more than 10 pounds.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and standing.
• Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment.
• Vision sufficient to read computer screens, reports, and related department documents.
• Dexterity to operate computer keyboards and other related office equipment.
• Endurance sufficient to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
• Frequent speech communication and hearing.
Why you'll love it here:
  • Unlimited Vacation for exempt employees
  • Paid Holidays
  • Competitive medical, dental & vision insurance for employees and their dependents
  • 401K Retirement Plan
  • Stock Options
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Health & Flexible Savings Accounts
  • Cell phone, gym, and internet reimbursement
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Free snacks (Denver, and or Fort Lauderdale)
  • Fun events (virtual and in-person)
