POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Lab Moves is to own and oversee all Lab MAC activity throughout the project life cycle. This is a people manager role and involves leading a team of four Move Coordinators. This role is responsible to align with Lab Occupancy Planners, the Delivery and Planning teams, Management and the client to ensure full visibility of the scope is shared and logistics are coordinated and communicated effectively. This role is highly interactive with the client site population. A strong customer service focus and desire to provide direct assistance to the client population is required. An understanding of lab equipment and lab operations are required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Provides operational and procedural support to ensure projects are executed in accordance with established departmental, building, and client means, methods, and procedures

  • Serves as client single-point-of-contact for day-to-day lab moves, adds, and changes, and project execution related to move management

  • Owns all MAC activity within lab and lab storage spaces throughout the life of the project. Accountable to provide visibility to stakeholders, to coordinate commissioning efforts with FM, to coordinate access with Security and to confirm site rules and limitations. The Lab MAC is responsible for setting the schedule and tasklist.

  • Lead move planning, support with test fits, and coordination with OP's in managing large capital projects

  • Must be able to lead vendors or contracted crews through a lab Move, Add, or Change. Help manage relationships with carriers and 3rd party vendors

  • Experience moving lab equipment or large machinery required. Research equipment, obtain cut sheets/specs, understand dimension/service envelope for test fits, familiar with the decommissioning/commissioning efforts and provide subject matter expertise as to how equipment can best be moved safely and efficiently.

  • Provide superior customer service and customer support for day to day activities and questions as well as project support for large moves

  • Supports the maintenance of a central database housing property floor plans, space configurations, lab layouts, etc.

  • Ensures vendor compliance with building standards and policies, maintains and provides as-built on lab equipment and lab furniture moves

  • Liaison between the Lab Team and the Delivery Team. Attend meetings as needed to resolve MAC related solutioning between client and other stakeholders

  • Create and evaluate project reporting; provide timely and accurate project status reporting to internal and external parties.

  • Monitor and review workload and develop plan for identifying and meeting specific timelines

  • Continual process improvement and enhanced customer service

  • Work with Lab Occupancy Planners to understand and coordinate lab project activity.

  • Understand and manage site restrictions and access

  • Manage 3rd party carriers/vendors and conduct pre/post move walkthroughs

  • Provide post move support to capture day two items

  • Provide lessons learned on each large move and present to the client


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

    • Specify preferred major: Project Management, Facilities Management, Real Estate

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of related work experience in project management, laboratory moves or large equipment moves/handling required

  • Specialized knowledge / skills:

    • Strong knowledge of IT and testing lab environments preferred

    • Ability to develop excellent client relations, client management, and consultation skills

    • Superior oral and written communication skills

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    • Strong attention to detail and quality

    • Client and customer service focused with strong organizational, technology and communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Involves work of a general office nature; typically includes extended periods of sitting and/or operation of a computer for up to 8 hours a day

  • May involve periods of standing, such as operating at a copier/fax/scanner or standing desk

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to write and type

  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you

  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so others will understand

  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, graphics, and computer displays

Estimated compensation for this position:

126,600.00 - 166,360.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
