Job description

Facilities Specialist - Furniture Move Team

This position is 5 days a week in the office & will be based at the Facilities Warehouse @ 755 Jefferson Street, Atlanta GA

  • Please Note: You may be required to work outside normal business hours &/or weekends, based on demand, with little to no advanced notice. 
  • (** This is a Non-Exempt position & you will be paid Overtime for any hours worked over 40 per week.)

JOB SUMMARY:   

The Facilities specialist position is responsible for supporting Facilities warehouse operations, transporting and installing materials/furniture, and providing efficient response to employee and leader facilities-related requests.  

 JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

 Work years of experience: 1-5 years of warehouse experience, light carpentry, installation of office & systems furniture preferred 

 Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred

 Special Certification: forklift operation-certified preferred, product-specific installation certifications a plus

 Preferred qualifications: Light carpentry/mechanical experience, ability to drive box truck or light delivery vehicles, experience working in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment, needs to be organized and customer-focused  

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Understand and follow all safety protocols for working in warehouse and other Southern Company locations. 
  • Inventory management: 
    • Maintain efficient receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. 
    • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. 
    • Monitors inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system
  • Pick up, deliver and install materials/furniture for remodeling and miscellaneous jobs at various Southern Company locations. 
  • Perform quality reviews of work performed by team and contractors prior to project completion
  • Ensure efficient transportation of material/furniture to minimize travel time
  • Perform assembly/disassembly and minor repairs of system furniture. 
  • Training of supplemental staff when required. 
  • Support facility management with employee moves; other duties and overtime as assigned

 This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle (or driving a personal vehicle on behalf of GA Power.)  The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license). 
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
