Job description
Alberta Blue Cross is an Alberta based organization dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experience and community leadership. We're committed to providing the best health coverage to over 1.8 million members and take an active role in promoting wellness. We believe in what we do-and place trust in our employees to deliver our vision.
Working at Alberta Blue Cross means having a career where you'll be recognized for your contributions. We value diversity, encourage our team members to maintain a healthy work-life balance and provide opportunities for career growth.
OVERVIEW:
We're seeking a talented and creative Graphic Designer to join our team for a 12 month temporary opportunity. Our brand and creative team is launching an exciting new brand platform, with room for invention, experimentation and thoughtful craftsmanship. As a Graphic Designer, you will play a key role in elevating our visual design, strengthening our brand presence and helping shape compelling stories that resonate with our audiences.
WHO YOU ARE:
You are a strategic visual storyteller who brings both conceptual thinking and refined craft to every project.
You excel at translating ideas, data and insights into meaningful visual narratives.
You understand how design shifts across platforms - from print to web to social to video - and how audience, medium and message interact.
You are comfortable presenting work, articulating rationale and participating in critique.
You keep a pulse on emerging trends, tools and technologies and apply them when appropriate.
You contribute to an environment of creativity, collaboration and high standards - and are able to coach and support more junior designers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Design creative concepts and multi-platform visual design across campaigns and initiatives.
Create and enhance sophisticated visual assets, including illustrations, graphics, page layouts.
Translate complex ideas, messages and data into clear, engaging and visually compelling communication.
Manage multiple, deadline-driven projects while maintaining a high standard of quality, brand consistency and craft.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
3-5 years of design experience, ideally within brand, marketing, advertising agency or in-house creative teams.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
A high level of professionalism, resourcefulness, and creativity.
A diverse portfolio demonstrating a passion for your work. Preference will be given to those candidates that have a portfolio demonstrating design agility across a variety of media.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat), and Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint and Word).
Experience working with print suppliers, providing final files and running preflight.
A high level of professionalism, resourcefulness, and ownership of craft.
ADVANTANGES:
Targeted yearly compensation includes a competitive base salary plus incentive, based on predetermined targets.
Hybrid working arrangement: you may work from home, come into the office when required and sometimes travel to client meetings or events.
Our downtown Edmonton office includes access to a world-class top-floor gym in our summit wellness centre.
Flexible, impactful benefits-right from the source!
The chance to make a positive difference in people's lives.
This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is selected.
Alberta Blue Cross is an inclusive employer committed to a workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We empower and are advocates for our team members by welcoming, respecting and valuing their unique perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.
We offer the opportunity to work in an innovative, high-energy team-focused environment. If you have the qualifications we are looking for, apply online at careers.ab.bluecross.ca
A criminal record check satisfactory to Alberta Blue Cross will be required as a condition of employment, following a conditional offer.
