Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Graphic Design Specialist contributes to the creation and production of on-Park signage, printed materials, and digital design assets that reflect Heritage Park's visual identity and enhance the visitor experience. This position requires creativity, technical production skills, and collaboration across departments to produce brand-aligned, high-quality materials for campaigns, programs, and operational needs.

Responsibilities:
Signage & Wayfinding
  • Design and update Park signage and informational displays for the Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum, and seasonal events.
  • Develop design concepts and prepare production-ready artwork for fabrication, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Collaborate with vendors and fabricators to review proofs, verify materials, and ensure final outputs meet quality expectations.
  • Maintain accurate signage documentation and archive design files for future use or updates.
Print & Digital Design
  • Create and produce a wide range of printed materials, including brochures, programs, menus, posters, flyers, and educational or interpretive handouts.
  • Develop and adapt digital assets for web, social media, and email campaigns, maintaining visual consistency across channels.
  • Lead the planning, production and distribution of Heritage Park's weekly email newsletters for general and membership audiences, including content coordination, layout, testing and scheduling.
  • Prepare accurate print-ready and web-optimized files, ensuring technical precision and quality.
  • Support photography and image editing needs for campaigns and marketing collateral.
  • Ensure alignment of design outputs with campaign objectives, audience insights, and Park messaging.
Event & Campaign Support
  • Design and produce promotional assets that support Park-wide events, exhibits, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Assist with on-site event preparation, including signage placement, display setup, and troubleshooting design-related needs.
  • Contribute to creative brainstorming and campaign planning with the Marketing and internal clients.
  • Ensure all event and campaign materials enhance the guest experience and reflect Heritage Park's visual identity.
Collaboration & Workflow
  • Partner with internal departments (Programming, Interpretation, Retail, Special Events etc.) to develop effective, brand-aligned visual solutions.
  • Maintain an organized digital asset library, ensuring current templates and brand materials are accessible.
  • Prioritize concurrent projects effectively, meeting deadlines while maintaining creative quality.
  • Participate in design reviews and accept feedback constructively to refine final outputs.
Brand Development & Standards
  • Apply and uphold Heritage Park's brand guidelines across all touchpoints.
  • Contribute to updates and refinements of the Park's visual identity and design templates.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on the use of logos, typography, and brand assets.
  • Support consistency in messaging and design across Heritage Park's digital and physical environments.
Organizational Excellence and Wellbeing

Required Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Information Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of professional design experience in print and digital graphics, ideally in attractions, museums, tourism, or experiential environments.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is considered an asset.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates versatility across print, signage, digital, and branding.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other design-related platforms; knowledge of motion, video, or web design is considered an asset.
  • Medium to advanced proficiency in relevant technologies such as Asana, Office 365, social media platforms, Mailchimp, and CMS tools like WordPress.
  • Strong proofreading skills with the ability to ensure all copy adheres to CP Style and Heritage Park's brand voice and standards.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with clients, team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-facing setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain high design quality under pressure.
  • All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.     Special Working Conditions:
    • Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park; and
    • Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee.

    • The role requires regular onsite presence, and the incumbent must have reliable transportation or the ability to commute consistently to the work location.
    • The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors; and
    • This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must have the ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the Park for extended periods
    Hours of Work
    • The standard hours for this position are 35 hours per week,
    • The schedule will generally be five consecutive days per week (Monday to Friday); and
    • Holiday, evening, and weekend work may be required
