Mountain Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Mortgage Loan Processor to join our growing Mortgage Department located in Waynesville. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping members achieve their homeownership goals while working in a collaborative and professional environment.

As a Mortgage Loan Processor, you will provide administrative and operational support for mortgage and home equity lending activities. You will manage loan workflows, coordinate critical deadlines, and ensure accurate and efficient processing from application through post-closing. Your work will directly impact the member experience by helping deliver timely and accurate lending solutions.

What Does a Mortgage Loan Processor Do?

The Mortgage Loan Processor supports mortgage and home equity lending operations by managing loan files, gathering and verifying documentation, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with lending requirements and timelines.

This role serves as a vital link between borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, closing agents, and internal departments. The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for maintaining an organized pipeline, monitoring loan progress, and ensuring each file moves efficiently through the lending process.

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesMortgage Loan Processing and Documentation 
  • Collect, organize, and verify borrower documentation, including income, employment, asset, and credit information.
  • Review loan files for completeness and accuracy.
  • Submit complete loan files to underwriting.
  • Monitor underwriting conditions and obtain required documentation for loan approval.
Loan Pipeline Management and Member Communication 
  • Manage assigned loan pipelines and workflow priorities.
  • Communicate regularly with borrowers, real estate professionals, title companies, and internal departments.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up activities.
  • Order third-party services, including title work, flood certifications, and insurance verification.
Disclosure Preparation and Closing Coordination 
  • Prepare and deliver initial disclosures within required TRID timelines.
  • Maintain loan documentation and electronic records.
  • Perform administrative functions including scanning, filing, and document management.
  • Prepare final loan packages for closing and funding.
Home Equity Loan Processing 
  • Assist in processing and closing home equity loans and lines of credit.
  • Gather required documentation and coordinate closing requirements.
  • Prepare loan closing packages.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
Compliance and Department Support 
  • Maintain current knowledge of Mountain Credit Union policies, procedures, and lending regulations.
  • Support departmental initiatives and process improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Mortgage Department's objectives.
QualificationsRequired Education
  • High school diploma or GED.
Required Experience
  • Two to three years of mortgage processing, mortgage lending, consumer lending, or related financial services experience.
