Job description

Equipment Solutions Supervisor - Solar

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is hiring an Equipment Solutions Supervisor-Solar supporting our growing Solar group. This role partners with other Equipment Solutions Managers to provide leadership and project assistance. This is a frontline leadership role responsible for supervising equipment personnel, coordinating logistics and maintenance activities, and supporting equipment planning and utilization efforts.

Location: Cantua Creek, CA / Fresno, CA (On-site 5 days/week)

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Equipment Operations & Planning
  • Support equipment planning and scheduling with internal project teams, Equipment Solutions teams, and vendors

  • Coordinate owned equipment, tooling, and storage across assigned projects or yards

  • Assist with equipment logistics including mobilization, demobilization, and yard organization

  • Monitor equipment readiness, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime

Team Supervision & Development
  • Provide direct supervision of Equipment Specialists, mechanics, or craft personnel

  • Assign daily work, set priorities, and monitor productivity

  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing skill development of team members

  • Reinforce Mortenson safety expectations and behavioral standards

  • Participate in performance feedback and development conversations in partnership with management

Safety, Compliance & Process
  • Lead by example in safety, compliance, and equipment standards

  • Ensure equipment meets regulatory, manufacturer, and company requirements

  • Support continuous improvement efforts in yards and warehouses, including 5S initiatives

  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and incident reviews

Financial & Asset Awareness
  • Assist with tracking equipment utilization, costs, and performance

  • Support repair vs. replace recommendations and asset accountability

  • Escalate cost, utilization, or availability risks to Equipment Solutions leadership

QUALIFICATIONS 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience in construction, equipment rental, and/or related professional experience or 8+ years of equivalent professional trade experience 
  • Familiarity with basic maintenance/service schedules 
  • Effective communication both verbal and written 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize based on workload 
  • Strong customer service skills 
  • Strong computer skills 
  • Valid US Driver's License with clean driving record 
  • Ability to travel 50%

Preferred:

  • 1+ year of experience of directly leading and managing a team
  • Experience with budget planning and financial oversight
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction equipment and materials

The base pay range for this role is $81,800 - $110,400. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
