UPPER MORELAND TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Technology Assistant
Department: Information Technology
Reports to: Technology Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Educational Support Professional Association
Schedule: 10 Months; Full Time 8 hours/day



MISSION STATEMENT:
The Upper Moreland Township School District is an educational institution working in partnership with the community to provide all students with educational opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, behaviors, and habits of mind necessary for excellence and success as critical thinkers, as caring and confident individuals, and as contributing members of society. The District reflects the shared values of a diverse community of stakeholders and focuses on student success socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Students of the Upper Moreland Township School District will be provided with the foundation and skills necessary to excel in the exciting, complex, and interdependent world in which they live.

SUMMARY:
The Technology Assistant Position provides first tier technical support to Staff and Students. This position reports to the Technology Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
(Other appropriate duties may be assigned.)

  • Provide first tier technical support for hardware and software to staff and students and escalate to District Technology Staff as needed.
  • Update and maintain building technology inventory in the Asset Management system.
  • Install software and peripherals as directed by the Technology Manager.
  • Assist with the collection and redistribution of student devices.
  • Facilitate technology device repair process.
  • Provide technical (non-curriculum) assistance or advice to teachers, staff, and students as requested.
  • Work directly with students and staff in support of all modes of learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The primary role of this job is technology support. Experience using modern operating systems including Windows, IOS, Android OS, Chrome OS.
  • Hardware teardown and repair skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve problems efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.
  • Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.
