Farmington Continuing Education is seeking a Citizenship ESL Instructor Part-time/Seasonal
General Description: The adult education ESL teacher is responsible for performing the related responsibilities necessary to help adult students develop the academic knowledge, life skill competencies, and attitudes that will contribute to their development as mature, productive and responsible adults and facilitate their ability to participate in the educational development of their children.
Qualifications:
  1. Candidate should maintain or be eligible for CT Adult Education certification: English to Non-English Speaking Adults (Endorsement #088) OR External Diploma Program and Noncredit Mandated Programs(#107).
  2. Strong knowledge or experience teaching U.S. Government, Civics, and/or the U.S. Naturalization process.

Responsibilities:
  1. Candidate should create and maintain a positive learning environment and standards of behavior.
  2. Candidate should plan academic instruction based on needs assessments, appropriate appraisal instruments, and program guidelines that are based on the CCS system and USCIS curriculum.
  3. Candidate should develop teaching strategies that are appropriate for the adult learner.
  4. Candidate should organize and request teaching materials appropriate for adult learners.

Salary: $36 - $38 per hour
Work Schedule: Part-time. Mondays and/or Wednesdays, 5:30 - 8:00 PM, 28 weeks/year (September - May)
