Education/Certification:

  • High School Graduate
  • Food Handlers Permit

Experience Required:

  • One year of data entry and record keeping experience
  • Experience working with at-risk and homeless students
  • Must be Bilingual (Spanish)

Function

The Data Clerk for Homeless Services reports to the District Homeless Liaison and assists in establishing and maintaining a database and grant record keeping system for the Texas Education for Homeless Children and Youth (TEHCY) grant.  Responsibilities include reception, processing grant requisitions, inventory for services and documentation of services. 

Reports To:

District Homeless Liaison

Responsibilities:

  • Enters and maintains the database for students in homeless, foster care, military, asylee, and refugee situations.
  • Maintains a filing and record system for the TEHCY grant administered through the Office of Special Programs.
  • Assists with all tasks related to the Kids Table food pantry program that include food service reports, food orders, stocking and packing food for pantry.
  • Serves as a member of a customer oriented front office team
  • Assists in answering office telephone calls
  • Acts as receptionist and receives parents and visitors to the office
  • Assists with tasks related to the Clean Kids Clothing Closet and donations, duties include but are not limited to organizing, hanging, and folding clothing.
  • Assists with ordering, distribution, and storage of the school supply and toiletries for homeless students.
  • Collects and compiles data information, and completes reports as required by funding agencies.
  • Maintains records of expenditures and budgets for the TEHCY grant administered through the Office of Special Programs.
  • Enters and processes purchase requisitions and maintains inventory.
  • Proofreads and edits completed reports to ascertain accuracy of data.
  • Answers telephone, relays messages, gives information in accordance with approved procedures, opens and distributes mail and collects needed information.
  • Prepares letters, memos, reports, transmittals, equipment and supply lists, requisitions and other information/data as needed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the Director for Special Programs.

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • This is a position that is funded totally by funds provided to CCISD through a Federal Grant.  The selected applicant will be required to acknowledge that there is a possibility that their employment will be terminated if these funds are no longer available to CCISD or if CCISD redirects these funds to another function in order to better serve the best interest of the District. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Challenging situations; limited in-District travel; heavy lifting due to clothing, toiletry and school supply donations.
  • There will be lifting, carrying, unloading and moving of food products involved due to food pantry.
