Rig Welders Combination

Location: Henderson, TX

General Information/Job Summary

The Welder is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction. They are responsible for knowing and following appropriate safety procedures to make safety checks and conduct safety meetings, and for coordinating with operating personnel regarding permits and clearances to initiate maintenance and repair activities.

Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping, piping systems, and equipment for steam, hot water, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems. Apply knowledge of plans, and work drawings in performing tasks.

Must be successful on the following.

  • Must be able to pass an all GTAW (TIG) 2" monster coupon 6G position.
  • Must be able to pass an all SMAW (Stick) 2" monster coupon 6G position.

Responsibilities/Competencies

  • Determines methods and materials needed to accomplish assigned construction maintenance, or repair tasks.
  • Performs lockout and tag procedures to secure equipment and check to ensure proper lockout procedures are used.
  • Must be able to weld plate junctures, vertical, horizontal, and pipe to the high standards necessary to pass radiographic inspection as required in API 650 and 653.
  • Must be able to pass tests as described under specific customer requirements. Must have the skill to use oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment.
  • Cuts pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine. Working knowledge of fixture and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
  • Proficient in assigned welding techniques such as MIG, Flux Core, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Interpretation of mechanical drawings, including especially including weld requirement symbols.
  • Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks that required manually moving materials, tools, and equipment and using hand tools and power tools.
  • Performs work area clean-up and safety related duties. Communicates with various personnel.
  • Uses basic knowledge of regulations and requirements. Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor.
  • Process inspection, certification, and documentation. Welding equipment maintenance.
  • Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.
  • Requires working in operating facilities and observing and abiding by additional safety policies and procedures.
  • Gives suitable assignments to helpers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Three (4) years of experience in work involving a variety of layout, installation, and maintenance tasks
  • Possess valid drivers' license with a good driving record
  • Furnish own welding machine, tools, truck, hood and Tig rig.

On a continual basis, promotes an awareness of environmental, health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment and ensures compliance with all accompany policies

Ability to pass drug test as mandated by the Saulsbury Industries and Department of Transportation anti-drug program

Must attend and successfully complete Saulsbury Industries safety training education

Attends safety meetings and specialty training as directed by management

Attends various training classes as may be assigned by management

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required

Ability to take needed safety precautions in performing the work
