Job description

The host/cashier position will greet customers as they enter the restaurant, gives them menus, and shows them to their seat. They handle phone calls and customer inquiries about the restaurant and menu and assist various restaurant staff when necessary. Cashiers handle all payment processing, including but not limited to cash, credit card and gift card transactions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive payments and present change to customers
  • Function as the host/hostess of the restaurant
  • Receive food checks from waiters or customers
  • Manage the register, including all credit card and cash operations
  • Ensure a balance of the register at the end of the shift or working period
  • Keeps menus clean and ready to present to customers
  • Great customer service with a smile
  • Dispense Gift Cards
  • Answer phones
  • Clean and organize the counters and shelves with sanitizer
  • Restock and fill toothpicks, business cards, restaurant office supplies, thermal paper, and Windex
  • Make sure the iPod and iPad are charged
  • Change dirty towels for clean ones every hour
  • Wipes down and sanitizes the phone and charger
  • Cleans the money counter with compressed air and wipe with sanitizer
  • Throws away any leftover beverages and food
  • Wipe down all POS, credit card machine and printer
  • Refill napkin holders
  • Closing the drawer
    • Count cash tips
    • Record voids, comps, and discounts
    • Count soda money and write the total on an envelope
    • Count the register
    • Count the money bank
    • Place all receipts in an envelope
  • Beverage and Chemical inventory sheet

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School/GED or higher education preferred
  • Superior skills in interaction with customers preferred
  • Prior cash handling experience preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Proper lifting, pushing, and pulling techniques are required.

Paid sick leave accrues at the rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a carryover cap of 48 hours.
