Monday - Friday, Day Shift
Purpose

The Registered Nurse Circulator assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the Operating Room during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities


  1. The Registered Nurse will possess the ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and accurately document nursing care for the patient in surgery.
  2. The Registered Nurse will provide age-specific care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population in surgery.
  3. Coordinates all aspects of nursing care with all disciplines of the surgical team to achieve defined patient outcomes.
  4. Provides safe environment for patients in surgery.
  5. The Registered Nurse must possess the skill to provide appropriate education to the patient and family regarding the surgical procedure.
  6. Displays excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, co-workers and physicians.
  7. Practices within the guidelines of Louisiana State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act and AORN guidelines.
  8. Complies with the policy and procedures set forth by the Surgical Specialty Center of Baton Rouge and all applicable regulatory bodies.
Education

Completion of an approved nursing program, as evident by current RN licensure.

Experience

1-2 years of OR experience required.
