Job description

Who We Are

Healthcare needs a better rhythm: one that keeps care continuous and deeply human. Heidi is building an AI Care Partner that works alongside clinicians to make that possible.

We’re a team of doctors, engineers, designers, researchers, and creatives building tools that help clinicians stay focused on what matters most: their patients.

In just 18 months, Heidi has given back more than 18 million hours to healthcare professionals, supporting 73 million patient visits in 116 countries. Today, more than two million patient visits each week are powered by Heidi worldwide.

Backed by significant venture funding, we’re growing in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe, partnering with leading health systems including the NHS, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Monash Health.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and grow Heidi’s North America engineering team, setting technical direction, standards, and culture.
  • Partner closely with the Regional PM to translate North America market needs into clear product requirements, and advocate for NA priorities with globally distributed product and engineering teams in Australia.
  • Drive and scale our forward-deployed engineering motion, designing, executing, and continuously improving on-site and deep integration work with enterprise customers.
  • Recruit and develop world-class engineering talent from the San Francisco AI ecosystem, building capability across agentic and revenue cycle engineering squads.
  • Serve as the technical voice for North America in global product and engineering discussions, driving the local technical roadmap and influencing global platform architecture
  • Own enterprise deployment reliability and integration performance across NA health system customers, ensuring the stability and trust that health systems demand.
  • Own Commercial Time to Market. You’re accountable for a secure, scalable and resilient system and the execution of sprints; and you also directly tie engineering output to pipeline conversion and customer expansion.
  • Report directly to Jessie Young (President, North America) and work in close collaboration with the global Head of Engineering and Head of Product based in Australia.
What We’re Looking For
  • A technically credible engineering leader who can recruit and lead a high-performing distributed team and still get into the weeds when it matters.
  • You are still a working technical contributor. You do architecture reviews, set standards directly, and can tell a sound technical decision from a brittle one without needing your team to brief you first
  • Proven experience with forward-deployed or professional services engineering in a regulated enterprise environment; healthcare or clinical technology experience is a strong plus.
  • Deep familiarity with AI agents and complex enterprise integrations in regulated or high reliability environments.
  • The ability to communicate fluently in both product and engineering languages and earn trust with the leadership team across geographies.
  • A bias for velocity paired with the discipline enterprise healthcare demands.
Other Things to Know
  • This role is in-office in San Francisco. We believe in the energy and focus of being in the room together.
  • You’ll be working across a significant timezone gap with our product and engineering teams in Australia.
  • You’ll have strong influence over the global product roadmap for North America.
The Way We Work
  1. Live Forever: We build for healthcare’s next decade, not next quarter. We set outrageous targets, lead healthcare forward, and follow the evidence, even when it’s uncomfortable.
  2. Practice Ownership: Everyone here carries the company. We raise the bar on hiring and excellence, own the outcome end-to-end, and focus on what matters over process.
  3. Move Fast, Fix Faster: The more we do, the more we learn. We ship atoms daily, learn from every release, and stay precise at pace.
  4. Get Better: The best clinicians teach. So do we. We live in clinicians’ reality, bring warmth to the work, and choose clarity, not cleverness.
Why You Will Flourish With Us
  • Become an owner, with significant shares (equity) in the company. If Heidi wins, we all win
  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision benefit options
  • 401k with 3% match
  • $100/month Healthy Heidis budget. Spend it on whatever keeps you at your best: gym, therapy, physio, yoga, running shoes, or anything else that genuinely supports your health
  • $700/year learning & development budget: courses, conferences, books, certifications
  • $500 one-time home office setup budget
  • Recharge Days after major pushes
  • The rare chance to create a global impact as you immerse yourself in one of the leading healthtech startups

Heidi is dedicated to creating an equitable, inclusive, and supportive work environment that brings people together from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Our strength is in our differences. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcome all applicants as we’re committed to promoting a culture of opportunity for all.
