Job description

Summary:
With the support of the Director, the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the provision of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for the inpatient, outpatient, and community members of the Penn Highlands Mon Valley (PHMV) service areas. This position requires a dedicated individual who demonstrates a systems approach to patient care, education, quality and management. The Clinical Dietitian will translate patient care and education into actions that produce high quality, cost-effective outcomes that address objectives of the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Clinical Nutrition & Diabetes department. This individual will apply program evaluation and accepted clinical research findings to secure clinical and program outcomes. He/she will build strong customer relationships, actively explore hospital needs, and pursue creative solutions to satisfy those needs. Involvement in Food Service to direct improvements for the inpatient diet and nutrition supplement provision. The Clinical Dietitian will work with the Director, Inpatient Clinical Dietitian, Inpatient Diabetes Clinician, and Outpatient Diabetes Clinician to coordinate and participate in the clinical teaching/learning aspects of medical nutrition, diabetes, and diabetes prevention education for patients and their families. The Clinical Dietitian will also work on the re-development of a care provider relationship with Penn Highlands Mon Valley's outpatient Oncology program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Registered Dietitian (RD) or registration eligible (RD exam must be passed within 1 year of hire date).
2. Current professional Registered Dietitian (RD) registration maintained through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
3. Current PA state license as Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) with maintenance of PA Board of Nursing state license requirements for RD.
4. A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in a hospital setting preferred.
5. The ability to communicate effectively with professionals in diverse disciplines.
6. Experience with computer work including electronic medical records, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
