Job Details

Haemonetics is hiring a Molding Process Technician based out of its Center of Excellence located in Clinton, PA (Pittsburgh). In this role, you will directly impact product quality and operational efficiency. You will apply advanced technical problem-solving within the molding department (Injection Molding, Injection Blow Molding, Extrusion Blow Molding, and Tube Extrusion).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ability to start/stop various molding machines without jeopardizing the machine or mold condition in a safe manor

  • Participates in mold changeovers, including installation and removal of the molds from presses and responsibility for ensuring proper installation per validated configurations

  • Continuously monitors molding processes and can troubleshoot dimensional/aesthetic molded part defects using standard molding principles

  • Understands characteristics and processing requirements for a wide variety of plastic resins (K-Resin, HIPS, PC, HDPE, SAN, PMMA, PP, etc) and how they flow, shrink, warp, etc

  • Good documentation practices including process change tracking, moldtrax, and shift summary creation/ distribution

  • Has a good understanding of mold/process validated setpoint ranges, and follows all required manufacturing instructions

  • Able to perform/assist with various mold/machine related PM's as needed

  • Ensures processes are running in validated range, to expected cycle times, and below budgeted scrap rates

  • Ability to clearly communicate tooling and machine issues to ensure accurate and timely repairs

  • Understands the use and control of various auxiliary processes including Part Extraction Robots, Dryers/Hoppers, Material Handling Loaders/Filters, Water/Oil Temperature Controllers, Hot Runner Controllers, etc.

  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment including equipment, floors, machines, oils, leaks, resins, tooling, etc.

  • Supports process validation activities including OQ/PQ execution, engineering studies and cost savings projects as required

  • Follows all applicable standard operating procedures, manufacturing instructions and/or standing instructions

  • Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction

  • Must be willing to work other shifts or perform other duties/tasks that are of reasonable request by Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Plastics Engineering, preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Candidates with advanced certifications or extensive thermoplastics process manufacturing experience may be considered.

  • Experience with high cavitation injection molds, preferred

  • Experience with Nissei, Sumitomo, or Arburg Injection Molding Machines is a plus

  • Experience with Uniloy Injection/Extrusion Blow Molding Machines is a plus

  • Experience with Davis Standard Extruders and Conair Downstream equipment is a plus

  • Experience with Husky, Thermoplay, Gamma Flux, Mold Masters Hot Runner Systems is a plus

Pay Transparency:

The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account, without limitation, the candidate's location, education, job-knowledge, skills, and experience in prior relevant roles. Incentives may also be provided as part of Haemonetics' employee compensation. For sales roles, employees will be eligible for sales incentive (i.e., commission) under the applicable plan terms. For non-sales roles, employees will be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, the target amount of which varies based on the applicable role, to be governed by the applicable plan terms. Employees may also be eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive plan, with eligibility and target amount dependent on the role.
