Job description

The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, Section of General & Preventive Cardiology, is seeking an academic General cardiologist for a full-time position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. Preference is placed for the candidates with expertise in cardiology oncology. This is a full-time, 12-month salaried faculty appointment and includes attending staff privileges at Moffitt Cancer Center. There is a desire for candidates with a strong interest in and commitment to teaching. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires a minimum of five years of continuing and productive service as an Assistant Professor, or the equivalent. Appointment at the rank of Full Professor involves a minimum of five years of ongoing and productive service as an Associate Professor, or the equivalent.

MINIMUM:

Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.  Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.   For Associate or Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and other professional journals and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.   

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.

PREFERRED:

Applicants with teaching experience with students/residents, experience with administrative organization/leadership of outpatient practices, and/or clinical research/scholarship experience will be most competitive. 

Level II certification in Echocardiography is preferred. Desire expertise in adult non-invasive assessment of heart disease, including surface echo and trans-esophageal echocardiography, stress echo and adult congenital heart disease. 

Desire experience with exercise testing, ECG interpretation, consulting and attending in a coronary intensive care unit or similar environment. Two years' experience in Non-Invasive Cardiology preferred.

MUST BE BOARD CERTIFIED/ELIGIBLE IN: General Cardiology

  • CLINICAL-patient consultations and outpatient care primarily at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, non-invasive cardiology call & coverage, reading EKGs and Stress Tests. Opportunity to participate in Echo reads if certified from a nationally accredited organization. Duties include Diagnose and treat disorders and diseases of the cardiovascular system. Participate in didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and/or graduate students, residents, and/or post-doctoral fellows.  Perform patient exams and order or conduct diagnostic testing. Develop ongoing treatment and disease-management plans.  Prescribe medicine and coordinate referrals as necessary.  Conduct early detection screenings. Maintain accurate patient records and charts.  Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, staff, and administration.  
  • TEACHING-Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
  • Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  • Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
  • May represent the university, college/school, or department.
