Job Summary: The Resident RN Clinician is an entry-level nurse participating in the Nursing Residency Program (NRP) to develop clinical skills and apply newly acquired knowledge in patient care. Under supervision, the residents learn to assess patient needs, implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes. With experience, they integrate with the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care to provide individualized care. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Practice & Patient Care: 1. Develops basic assessment skills and applies nursing knowledge to patient care. 2. Recognizes the impact of nursing interventions on patient outcomes. 3. Documents patient care accurately in electronic and physical records. 4. Identifies patient and family learning needs and utilizes resources accordingly. 5. Demonstrates time management and delegation skills based on the Synergy Model. 6. Functions as a Charge Nurse only in extenuating circumstances. Communication & Team Collaboration: 1. Enhances listening abilities and recognizes obstacles to effective communication. 2. Seeks assistance when needed and collaborates with the healthcare team. 3. Ensures efficient use and accurate billing of medical supplies. 4. Upholds and ensures the confidentiality of patient information. Professional Development & Compliance: 1. Identifies personal learning needs and engages in continuous education. 2. Completes orientation, annual health assessments, and regulatory/safety training. 3. Successfully completes the residency program and maintains required performance standards. 4. Attends at least 75% of department-based meetings. Required
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Experience: 1. New graduate with no experience. Entry-level nurses serving in their first nursing role are required to participate in the NRP. 2. Must enter the program within 12 months of graduation (exceptions considered for personal or military commitments). 3. Emory employees enrolled in an Emory ADN program as of 3/30/2025 must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the Resident RN Clinician role. 4. ASN candidates who accepted an offer prior to 3/30/2025 must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ASN/ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the Resident RN Clinician role. Licensure: Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. Certification: 1. BLS certification 2. ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire 3. Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty
