Job description

Position: Curriculum Specialist

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Clearance: Secret

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in developing, maintaining and modernizing all matters involving Unit Level Training.
  • This position requires prior military or civilian background with sound knowledge of Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) systems, processes and certification requirements.
  • Assist with the oversight of the maintenance and administration of existing curricula.
  • Ensure all curriculum development/revision/modification is coordinated with the appropriate staff.
  • Assist with developing new curricula and perform training material revisions and modifications to existing curricula. Involve the LSO in all phases of curriculum development and maintenance.
  • Inform the Curriculum Control Authority (CCA) of developments or setbacks that may impact projected goals and milestones.
  • Ensure all training material is available for access by the curriculum development team and the Course Supervisors. Training materials include lesson plans/instructor guides, trainee guides, tests, instructional media material (IMM), etc. The use of electronic media for distribution of training materials is highly recommended.
  • Ensure a master copy of all training materials is maintained in the course's Master Training Plan (MTP), to contain the last approved TPP, Letter of Promulgation, Course Outline of Instruction (COI), Training Course Control Document (TCCD), two previous Formal Course Reviews (FCRs), and the approved Testing Plan.
  • Assist to coordinate the scheduling of FCRs and publish an annual schedule. Provide a copy of the schedule to the Director of Training.
  • Instructors under his/her cognizance are utilizing the most up-to-date Curriculum materials.
  • Provide input to curriculum management personnel to ensure currency of the information in the Master Record
  • Must possess a minimum of ten years’ experience within the last fifteen years in a Course Curriculum Model Manager role.
  • Must possess a master’s degree in a related discipline with a strong emphasis in writing.
