The Mobility Engineer โ€“ EOS Firmware Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a technical leadership role within Econoliteโ€™s Professional Services Group, responsible for onsite, full-time support at the Miami-Dade Traffic Management Center (TMC) in support of the Countywide Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) deployment.

This role is aligned with Task Group 1 (Traffic Signal Controller and Local Controller Software) and serves as the designated Controller Expert Staff, providing real-time expertise in EOS firmware, controller operations, system integration, and field deployment support.

The SME ensures that all controller deployments, configurations, and operational behaviors meet contract requirements, safety standards, and performance expectations, while enabling successful system acceptance and long-term operational success.

A defining expectation of this role is that each deployed intersection operates safely, correctly, and in full compliance with Miami-Dade County standards, with rapid issue resolution and clear documentation.

DUTIES:

  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EOS firmware and Model 2070LX controllers.
  • Provide full-time onsite technical support at the Miami-Dade Traffic Management Center (TMC).
  • Act as the primary escalation point for controller, firmware, and traffic signal operational issues.
  • Support deployment, configuration, integration, and validation of controllers, firmware, and ATMS communications.
  • Verify controller timing, coordination, detection, synchronization, and overall system performance.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), field validation, and system acceptance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex controller, firmware, hardware, communications, and networking issues.
  • Support ongoing maintenance, operational readiness, and performance monitoring of deployed systems.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to County staff, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Provide training, knowledge transfer, and operational best practices to TMC personnel.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support design reviews, deployment planning, and continuous system improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship while ensuring successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in ITS, traffic signal systems, or traffic controller environments.
  • IMSA Level III Certification required.
  • Proven experience deploying, configuring, and supporting traffic signal controller systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of EOS firmware and Model 2070LX controllers.
  • Strong understanding of traffic signal timing, coordination, phasing, detection, communications, and networking.
  • Experience with ATMS platforms, preferably Centracs Mobility or similar traffic management systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, real-time operational environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, customer-focused mindset with a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

BUSINESS TRAVEL:

Primarily onsite at the Miami-Dade TMC, with limited field travel as required to support deployment and operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in field and operational environments, including active intersections
  • Safety-sensitive position requiring adherence to all applicable standards
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Valid driverโ€™s license required
