Job Description

The Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy mobile equipment used in marine terminal operations. This includes forklifts, cranes, loaders, terminal tractors, and other diesel-powered equipment critical to cargo handling operations. The mechanic will support safe and efficient terminal operations while working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy mobile equipment
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmissions
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic tools and software
  • Repair or replace mechanical and hydraulic components as needed
  • Ensure all repairs are completed in compliance with company and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Assist with emergency repairs to support terminal operations
  • Operate shop equipment and support other maintenance personnel when required

    WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED:

    • Experience repairing heavy mobile equipment, forklifts, cranes, loaders, or similar industrial equipment
    • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and troubleshooting procedures
    • Ability to work safely in an industrial marine terminal environment
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
    • Valid driver's license required
    • Must provide own tools
    • Previous port, terminal, railroad, construction, or industrial equipment experience is an asset
