Position Description
Job Summary:
The Mobile Repair Mechanic will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on construction, paving, aggregate, and support equipment at company plants, job sites, and other operating locations. Based in Westfield, Massachusetts, this position will travel as needed to support safe, reliable equipment operation and minimize downtime.
The Mobile Repair Mechanic will diagnose and repair diesel engines and mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems; respond to field breakdowns; complete scheduled maintenance and inspections; document repairs and parts usage; and maintain a safe, organized mobile service vehicle and work area. This role will work closely with equipment operators, supervisors, shop personnel, and vendors to prioritize repairs and maintain equipment availability.
Essential Functions:
  1. Protect family and friends. Ensure a safe work environment by following all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, environmental procedures, and site-specific rules while performing all maintenance and repair activities.
  2. Determined. Reduce unplanned equipment downtime by accurately diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel-engine issues.
  3. Committed to serve. Support safe and productive field operations by responding to equipment breakdowns at plants and job sites and prioritizing repairs based on operational and safety needs.
  4. Obligated. Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records by documenting inspections, repairs, labor, parts usage, and equipment conditions in the designated maintenance system.
  5. Ownership and caring. Ensure field-service readiness by keeping the mobile service vehicle stocked, organized, safe, and equipped to complete common repairs.
  6. Mastery. Improve long-term equipment reliability by identifying recurring failures, communicating root-cause observations, and recommending corrective maintenance or replacement actions.

Position Requirements
Requirements, Education and Experience:
1. 2 - 5 years of experience in the service repair industry (Auto/Heavy Truck and Equipment)
2. Must have valid driver's license, CDL preferred.
3. Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
4. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
5. Flexibility to meet the company's needs.
6. Highschool diploma or GED preferred.
7. Legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel:
Travel throughout Peckham Industries operating footprint is expected based on the needs of the business. Travel may be required to support other shops, facilities, field operations, staffing needs, acquisitions, emergencies, or other operational requirements.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This position performs heavy work and regularly requires moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more, with appropriate assistance or equipment when needed. The Mobile Repair Mechanic must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and perform physical activities including lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
Work is performed in shop, field, plant, quarry, and job-site environments. The position regularly works on or near moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and loud machinery and may be exposed to dust, vibration, uneven terrain, outdoor weather conditions, and other conditions common to construction, aggregate, paving, and maintenance operations. Occasional travel to field locations, plants, and quarries is required to support equipment maintenance and repair needs.
