Job description

About Ami
Ami is a passionate and experienced team of technology and product builders crafting the next global social platform for consumers. We are bridging the gap between existing social networks and real-world interactions, powered by serendipity and location. Social media and screen addiction has created a world where behavior and connection are no longer authentic. Ami is guiding the way back to authentic, real-world connection.
About the Role
We are seeking a 99th percentile Consumer Mobile Product Designer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing intuitive, visually appealing, and highly functional consumer apps that leverage the full suite of advanced capabilities available on iPhone and Android platforms. You'll craft experiences that feel effortless yet powerful, making complex technology simple and accessible to users.
What You'll Do
Design Intuitive User Experiences: Create user-friendly designs for mobile apps that prioritize simplicity, beauty, and functionality.
Leverage Advanced Mobile Features: Utilize the latest capabilities of iOS and Android platforms, such as AR, gestures, haptics, biometrics, and voice recognition, to create delightful and innovative experiences.
Craft Visual Designs: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs that align with brand guidelines and resonate with the target audience.
Drive Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with product managers, engineers, product marketers, and other designers to ensure your designs are feasible and optimized for implementation.
Conduct Research: Understand user needs through user research, usability testing, and feedback loops to inform design decisions.
Stay Current: Stay updated on platform updates, design trends, and best practices to push the boundaries of mobile app design.
Prototype Solutions: Rapidly prototype ideas to communicate and validate concepts with stakeholders and users.
What We're Looking For
Experience: 5+ years of experience in mobile product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing consumer-facing apps, ideally with millions of users.
Design Guidelines Knowledge: Familiarity with iOS and Android design guidelines (e.g., Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design) and platform-specific features.
Creativity and Simplicity: Demonstrated ability to design elegant solutions that simplify complex interactions or technologies.
Attention to Detail: Strong sense of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
User-Centric Approach: Passion for understanding and improving the user experience through thoughtful design.
Adaptability: Ability to iterate quickly and adapt to changing priorities or feedback.
Bonus Skills
Experience working in product development teams leveraging Linear and Notion.
Experience working with AR, VR, or other emerging technologies.
Knowledge of IOS development principles to better collaborate with engineers.
Experience creating prototypes using Protopie or similar tools.
Why You'll Love Working Here
Work with a team of experienced founders, engineers and designers building a new category of consumer social product which will be used globally.
Work inside of an office stacked with technology, high-end gaming machines and VR setups. We love night time gaming sessions.
Fully stocked kitchen, fully stacked gym, amazing restaurants all around.
Backgammon, poker, and other game nights.
Beautiful downtown location with the best NYC views of any startup office.
Early stage generous stock options (Pre Series-A)
Top-tier VC backing (Founder's Fund, 8VC, more)
