The IT Systems & Network Engineer serves as the senior technical individual contributor on Coulee Bank's IT team. This role owns the day-to-day operation, reliability, and security of the bank's network and core systems infrastructure while also providing escalated technical support across the organization. The position balances project delivery and operational support. This is a hands-on role for a technically strong professional who enjoys both engineering work and resolving complex end-user issues.
Coulee Bank offers a flexible hybrid work model. This position is expected to work in office three (3) days per week with the potential to work remotely up to two (2) days per week.
IMPORTANT : The ideal candidate will report out of one of our La Crosse or Onalaska office and be open to travel as business needs arise.
  • Wisconsin: La Crosse or Corporate Onalaska
  • Primarily onsite at the bank's main office, with some schedule flexibility.
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work for maintenance windows, incidents, and project cutovers.
  • Some local travel between bank locations as needed.
  • On a seldom basis will need to travel to our Rochester, St. Paul and Minnetonka, MN locations.

A Day in the Life of an IT Systems & Network Engineer:
Network and Infrastructure Ownership
  • Own administration, configuration, monitoring, and lifecycle management of the bank's Ruckus wireless environment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ISP and circuit vendors; manage WAN connectivity, escalations, and renewals.
  • Administer firewalls, VPN, VLANs, switching, and remote access.
  • Lead network capacity planning, change management, and documentation.
  • Manage certain assigned vendor relationships.

Systems Administration
  • Administer Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, Microsoft 365, virtualization, endpoint management, patching, and backup/restore operations.
  • Own user lifecycle activities (provisioning, deprovisioning, access reviews) in coordination with HR and the Director.
  • Maintain and improve monitoring, logging, and alerting for core infrastructure.
  • Support security tooling, hardening standards, and compliance evidence collection.
  • Coordinate technical support, upgrades, and integrations for the core banking platform; serve as the primary technical liaison with the core vendor.
  • Administer the security awareness training and phishing simulation program, including campaign scheduling, reporting, and user remediation.

Support and Escalation
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for staff technology issues.
  • Troubleshoot complex workstation, peripheral, telephony, and application issues.
  • Provide informal mentoring and technical guidance to other IT and operations staff.

Projects and Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and contribute to IT projects including infrastructure upgrades, migrations, security initiatives, and new system deployments.
  • Recommend design improvements for network, identity, endpoint, and systems environments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

Audit, Risk and Business Continuity
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Support audits, exams, and risk assessments by providing evidence and remediation work.

Pay Range:
The likely salary range for this position is $81,264.00 - $121,896.00 annually PLUS participate in our Professional Service Incentive Plan. This, however, is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Salary will be determined based on education, experience and skill level.

Requirements
Qualifications For Ideal Candidate:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience spanning systems administration and network administration.
  • Hands-on experience managing and administering enterprise wireless, WAN/ISP relationships, Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across L1-L3 issues.
  • PowerShell scripting proficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to interact professionally with staff, vendors, examiners, and executives.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with banking applications or other regulated financial services software.
  • Familiarity with FFIEC, GLBA, and information security control frameworks.
  • Relevant certifications such as Network+, Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Azure/365.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Conditional Access Policies, or comparable tools.
