Job description

Lutheran Social Service MN is a dynamic social service organization serving children, youth and families, people with disabilities, older adults, and military veterans. MONDAY-FRIDAY 5:30am-1pm
This role offers a flexible schedule, NO weekends and plays a huge role in your local community!
This position will prepare meals to serve or package for various populations from youth to adult and/or transport in bulk to satellite meal sites. In larger kitchens, this position will support a Senior cook in these duties. In smaller kitchens, this work may be done independently with the guidance of the Regional Manager and Assistant Director of Production.
Job Requirements:
  • Previous kitchen experience is required.
  • A minimum of one year of equivalent experience in a full-service kitchen in a health care facility, school or restaurant.
  • Knowledge of quantity cooking: the ability to follow standardized recipes and convert measurements to accommodate the number of meals needed.
  • Knowledge of all kitchen equipment and utensils usage.
  • Knowledge of Health Department regulations.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, train, supervise, and direct site staff and volunteers.
  • Represent LSS in a professional manner through adhering to dress code and personal hygiene practices.
  • Represent LSS as the provider of this service, engaging with diners to promote a welcoming and inviting atmosphere
  • Valid driver's license preferred

The successful candidate must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and have a drivers' license; a Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) is required.
