Job description

Major League Baseball is seeking a seasoned Manager to join its League Strategy team. The League Strategy team is a centralized resource within MLB's Office of the Commissioner that works cross-functionally across MLB to support development and execution of our strategies for growing the business of baseball globally, including reaching new fans, driving deeper engagement with existing fans, and driving revenue strategy.

We are seeking a high-caliber Manager, League Strategy to serve as a strategic advisor to MLB's League Office to address some of the most critical opportunities facing the industry today. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker equipped to navigate the evolving Sports, Media, and Entertainment landscape, and will bring a strong set of analytical and communication skills, a structured strategy toolkit, an ability to build cross-functional relationships, and a low-ego roll-up-your-sleeves approach to a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advisory: Partner with leaders across departments to understand core issues, develop analytical approaches, and transform complex data into thoughtful, actionable, and scalable insights
  • Analytical Leadership: Lead research and data analysis and create strategic frameworks to ensure conclusions are grounded in an analytical rigorous fact base
  • Collaboration: Support departments across the Office of the Commissioner in defining roadmaps, evaluating build-vs-buy decisions, and aligning technical capabilities with long-term business goals
  • GenAI Adoption: Identify, pilot, and support adoption of Generative AI tools. This includes spreading adoption of best practices using approved AI chatbots, automating content creation workflows, enhancing personalized fan experiences, and improving internal operational efficiencies.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Build deep relationships across MLB's Office of the Commissioner to ensure strategic alignment and break down departmental silos
  • Financial & Market Analysis: Conduct rigorous quantitative analysis and market research to support business cases for new initiatives
  • Innovation: Proactively track evolving trends within the sports, media, and broader digital landscape to identify new ideas, tools, and potential partnership opportunities to achieve our fan engagement and revenue growth goals

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree with strong record of academic achievement
  • 6+ years of professional experience in management consulting, internal corporate strategy, or a strategic role; will consider candidates with an advanced degree and less working experience on a case-by-case basis
  • Experience in the Sports, Media & Entertainment; specific exposure to Digital Media, Product Management, Social Media, Sponsorship, and Generative AI preferred
  • Proven track record of working with Generative AI tools-not just as a user, but in identifying business applications and supporting tool development, usage, and deployment
  • Strong understanding of the digital media landscape, including digital content strategies, social platforms, streaming technology, and fan engagement trends
  • Proven ability to work independently to build rigorous fact-bases that support recommendations to department and company leadership
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence (EQ) and interpersonal skills; ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate a complex, relationship-driven organization
  • Low-ego - equally comfortable giving or receiving direction, leading or contributing as appropriate, driving conversations or supporting as necessary
  • Unique ability to balance analytical rigor with a bias for action - ability to draw on structures from the consulting / strategy toolkit, with a predisposition to produce fast, practical recommendations
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and creating executive-level presentations
  • Must be willing to work in-office at MLB's New York, NY office

Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $130,000.00 (Base Salary) + Bonus

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
