Consumer Loan Officer
On-Site | San Diego, CA
Compensation: $29.00 - $36.00 per hour
Actual compensation within this range will be determined by factors including experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and other job-related considerations permitted by law.
As a Consumer Loan Officer, you'll play a critical role in evaluating and underwriting consumer loan applications across a variety of products, including auto loans, personal loans, and credit cards. You'll partner with branches and internal departments, serve as a lending subject matter expert, and help ensure every lending decision supports both our members and our business objectives.

What You'll Do
  • Review and underwrite consumer loan applications that require manual decisioning.
  • Analyze member credit profiles, income sources, debt-to-income ratios, and ability to repay.
  • Make prudent lending decisions while adhering to established policies, procedures, and lending guidelines.
  • Identify credit risks, interpret credit reports, and investigate potential red flags.
  • Provide guidance and underwriting support to branches and departments.
  • Respond to lending-related inquiries via phone and email while delivering exceptional internal and external member service.
  • Stay current on lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with rate exceptions, loan recasts, reporting activities, and other assigned lending functions.
  • Identify opportunities to offer additional loan products that may benefit members.
  • Participate in loan quality reviews and contribute recommendations for workflow improvements and training opportunities.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of consumer lending experience.
  • At least 2 years of consumer loan underwriting experience.
  • At least 3 years of customer service experience.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer lending products and credit analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Credit union experience.
  • Call center experience.
  • Familiarity with Symitar or similar core banking platforms.
