Job description

Nurse Liaison

Minnesota Eye Consultants (MEC) is one of the premiere eye care practices in the nation. We believe in One Team, All In. The culture at MEC is one of excellence and teamwork. We are passionate about patient care and dedicated to improving quality of life through life-changing vision procedures and treatments. MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time Nurse Liaison (LPN or RN) for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Woodbury. This position is on-site.

The Nurse Liaison ensures that surgical patients are medically optimized for their surgical procedures. This includes providing support to the providers by answering surgical patient calls, e-prescribing medications, triaging patient concerns, answering general patient phone calls and other medical administrative responsibilities such as patient paperwork to ensure superior patient care. Starting pay is $28.00-32.00/hour for LPN and $33.00-35.00 for RN.

Responsibilities
  • Complete all preoperative surgical calls (Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)).
  • Ensure surgical chart is complete (H&P, blood work, EKG, IOL pick, surgery order).
  • Triage patient calls regarding ocular concerns. Determines clinic visit necessity.
  • Document all calls using the Patient Communication log in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Review all pathology reports; contacts patients and/or provider with results as directed and records communication in EHR.
  • Complete medication refill requests obtained via fax, phone call or patient portal.
  • Answer patient calls and/or portal requests to provide education, answer questions, etc. to ensure superior patient care.
  • Send tasks via EHR when necessary to enlist the assistance of other team members.
  • Complete same day post-operative surgical calls.
  • Participate in trainings and meets requirements for Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures, HIPAA compliance and Protected Health Information.
  • Perform all patient related duties as assigned to ensure quality patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
  • LPN or RN license.
  • Open and willing to try new workflows and ideas.
  • Ability to remain calm at all times and escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EHR system and ability to use it efficiently.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
