Job description

The Hospitality Ministry Assistant Director supports the execution of a welcoming, organized, and engaging guest experience across weekend services and large-scale community events. This role provides leadership for hospitality teams, oversees key connection environments, and leads the planning and execution of outreach events designed to engage the surrounding community and create pathways into the life of the church.
Reports to: Hospitality Ministry Director
Works with: Volunteers, guests, Grove staff, vendors and community members
Works: Part-Time, approximately 28 hours per week, salary
WEEKEND GUEST EXPERIENCE & CONNECTION - 30%
  • Oversee hospitality environments during weekend services (greeters, ushers, connect areas).
  • Ensure volunteers are prepared, scheduled and equipped for each service.
  • Maintain consistency and excellence across all services, identifying and addressing gaps in real time.
  • Oversee connection points (connect center, guest follow-up processes, next steps environments); represent The Grove's ministry vision and values to visitors.
  • Ensure first-time guests are clearly guided toward meaningful next steps; answer questions about faith and pray over specific needs; share the gospel with those who are new to faith or to church.
  • Help manage systems for collecting and tracking guest information.
  • Support initiatives to improve guest retention and engagement.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION & DEVELOPMENT - 30%
  • Recruit, onboard and schedule Hospitality volunteers.
  • Support the development of team leads and emerging leaders; disciple and care for key volunteer leaders.
  • Help implement training systems and ensure consistent communication across teams.
  • Foster a positive, welcoming and ownership-driven volunteer culture.
COMMUNITY EVENTS - 20%
  • Lead planning, coordination and execution of large community events (between 2,000 and 8,000 attendees).
  • Develop timelines, logistics and volunteer structures for each event.
  • Coordinate with internal ministries and external vendors as needed.
  • Ensure events are welcoming, organized, and aligned with the church's mission.
  • Create clear connection pathways from events into weekend services and church life.
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT & SYSTEMS IMPLEMENTATION - 10%
  • Assist in implementing systems related to hospitality, guest experience and volunteer coordination.
  • Help track key metrics (guest engagement, volunteer participation, event effectiveness).
OTHER - 10%
  • Cultivate intimacy with God and growth in Christ-like character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
  • Attend weekly sermon/service planning meetings.
  • Attend all-staff meetings and devotions; lead staff devotions.
