SUMMARY

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the movement of materials, equipment, and supplies to and from the mine site to ensure uninterrupted mining operations. This role supports production, maintenance, and construction activities while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in a mining environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Logistics & Supply Chain

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation of materials, consumables, spare parts, and heavy equipment.
  • Schedule and monitor deliveries to ensure materials arrive on time and in the correct quantities.
  • Inspect copper scrap received on site to ensure deliveries are correct.
  • Manage freight providers and carriers for deliveries to mine site.
  • Support warehousing, laydown areas, and on-site material handling activities.
  • Track shipments and resolve delays, damages, or shortages in a timely manner.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records using site ERP and inventory systems.
  • Work closely with warehouse and procurement teams to manage stock levels and reorder points.
  • Support critical spares management to minimize downtime of mining equipment.
  • Conduct stock takes and audits as required.

Site Operations Support

  • Liaise with production, maintenance, and projects teams to understand logistical needs.
  • Coordinate logistics for shutdowns, major maintenance events, and site construction projects.
  • Support mobilization and demobilization of equipment, contractors, and personnel.

Safety, Compliance & Environment

  • Ensure all logistics activities comply with mine safety standards, MSHA/OSHA regulations, and site procedures.
  • Coordinate transport of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and participate in site safety meetings, JHAs, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure environmental controls are followed during transport and storage of materials.

Administration & Reporting

  • Prepare logistics reports, delivery schedules, and cost tracking documentation.
  • Monitor logistics costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of transport documents, customs paperwork (if applicable), and compliance documentation.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of logistics or supply chain experience, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy industry.
  • Experience working in a remote, industrial, or 24/7 operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of freight coordination and inventory management.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in an open-pit or underground mining operation.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment transport and bulk materials handling.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Pronto, Oracle, etc.).
  • Familiarity with FIFO/DIDO workforce logistics.
