The successful Smurfit Westrock team member will be working in a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation. Employees must comply with all safety regulations and practices. Smurfit Westrock is a team based environment. We offer a competitive benefits package; Hourly rates range from $40.28 to $45.67 (shift), health, life, dental and vision plans, 401(K), Pension and employee assistance program, paid Holidays & Vacation (1-3 weeks based on experience). Relocation ($5,000 net) offered to eligible candidates.
Mechanical
  • Understanding of and experience with reading drawings, Bills of Materials, parts identification, planning and scheduling
  • Determine work procedures to assemble, dismantle and overhaul machinery and equipment
  • Work with a wide variety of precision tools
  • Perform a variety of maintenance related tasks in connection with the maintenance, repair and/or improvement to equipment
  • Able to troubleshoot, PM, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Laser align equipment, rebuild pumps, change machine bearings, operate cutting torch, weld plate and pipe, safely troubleshoot and repair hydraulic components, etc.
  • Expertise with common paper mill equipment/components such as: conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, rolls bearings, seals, chains, sprockets, couplings, cylinders, valves, etc.
  • Operate equipment such as hoists, cranes, fork-lifts, welding machines, burning rigs, etc.

What you need to succeed:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Have a minimum of 2 years full-time or part-time work experience in the last 4 years
  • Demonstrated the drive to achieve and have upward movement in various jobs
  • Self-motivated desire to learn
  • Capable of meeting physical requirements to include working weekends/holidays, around heat, noise, work inside/outside, etc.
  • Has the mechanical, mathematical, and verbal aptitude to learn positions
  • Proven record of performance
  • Play by the rules and work well with others
  • Able to complete and submit an employment application online
  • Able to operate in heavy manufacturing site and work variable schedule and overtime as needed.
