Job description

Salary: $22 - $75 per hour DOE/on-site pay

As a family-owned company and former U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Civil Works Contractor of the Year Award winner, we enjoy close ties with Eastern Washington/Idaho communities around our Deer Park, WA headquarters. For over 50 years, we have been lauded by public agencies, commercial clients, and federal officials for our work in building and updating hydraulic steel and concrete properties as well as their associated actuators. These projects control the water flow, fish passage, and barge traffic via dams on systems including the Columbia and Snake Rivers as well as other waterways in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and the Dakotas.

Industrial Carpenter

Work at various customer sites installing, maintaining, repairing and/or removing machines and equipment. Construct, erect, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood and comparable materials. Industrial Carpenter should work to schedule and prepare for these tasks to reduce and eliminate hazards in advance, ensuring adherence to all safety guidelines. Previous Crane Operator experience/certification is preferred, however, Knight offers in-house training and certifications. Frequent prolonged travel to remote project locations required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These duties are those typically performed in this position. Employee may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties.

  • Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Coordinates with job site Superintendent/Foreman to configure construction lay out.
  • Choose appropriate materials, including wood, metal, and other construction materials, based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Accurately measures, cuts and installs materials.
  • Installation of forms for placing concrete and grout.
  • Assist with the proper installation of reinforcing, anchors and imbeds.
  • Assists with concrete placement on footings, walls, flatwork and grade work.
  • Perform all duties associated with crane operation, including inspection, maintenance, and safe operation.
  • Work within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or learned within a short period of time to successfully perform the assigned duties.

  • 3+ years proven construction carpentry experience required.
  • Current Crane Operator certification highly preferred, or must be able to obtain NCCCO Crane Operator certification within 1 year.
  • Industrial machine licenses (such as a forklift license) preferred.
  • Current OSHA 10 or MSHA Certification preferred.
  • Carpentry techniques, materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other industrial structures.
  • Skilled in the standard use of tools and equipment of the profession.
  • Knowledge of elevations and ability to establish grades using a laser level.
  • Ability to look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look like as solid objects.
  • Basic mathematics and its applications, geometry, and layout.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Perform strenuous physical labor in an outdoor environment during all seasons.
  • Lifting/carrying objects 50 lbs. or more.
  • Lifting from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
  • Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, crawling up to 8+ hours per day.
  • Frequent climbing multiple flights of stairs.
  • Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders or stools reaching in all directions.
  • Handling and manipulating objects and materials.
  • Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers.
  • Seeing with or without correction.
