American Millworks is seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to build, grow, and lead our Custom Projects Division. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in architectural millwork, enjoys developing people, and wants to create a high-performing team that delivers exceptional craftsmanship.
Our Custom Projects Division specializes in one-of-a-kind architectural millwork, including custom reception desks, feature walls, wall panel systems, display fixtures, specialty cabinetry, and other unique interior solutions. As demand continues to grow, we're looking for the right leader to establish processes, mentor craftsmen, and drive operational excellence.
What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of skilled craftsmen.
  • Build a culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and oversee production of custom architectural millwork projects from drawings to completion.
  • Read and interpret architectural plans, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure projects meet AWI Quality Standards and company expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and installation teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop efficient production workflows while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship.
  • Train employees on woodworking techniques, safety, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Help recruit and develop future talent as the division continues to expand.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in architectural millwork manufacturing.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience managing production teams.
  • Strong knowledge of AWI Quality Standards and architectural woodworking practices.
  • Ability to read architectural drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings.
  • Extensive experience with woodworking equipment, machinery, and fabrication techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and develop employees.
  • A passion for craftsmanship and building high-performing teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with custom commercial millwork.
  • Lean manufacturing or process improvement experience.
  • CNC and modern woodworking manufacturing knowledge.
  • Experience working alongside project managers and engineering teams.
