At Allegheny Millwork, we manufacture custom architectural millwork for some of the most impressive commercial and residential spaces across the region. We're looking for a Lead Draftsperson who is ready to elevate our drafting team-someone who thrives on solving technical challenges, mentoring others, and ensuring precision in every project detail.

What You'll Do

As the Lead Draftsperson, you will guide drafting efforts from kickoff to final release. You will:

  • Review project scopes, architectural drawings, and specifications to establish drafting requirements.
  • Identify discrepancies and collaborate with Project Managers to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Set up CAD templates, Xrefs, and standards for the drafting team.
  • Coordinate scope assignments and support drafters based on skill sets and deadlines.
  • Serve as the communication hub-keeping teams aligned, informed, and moving forward.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, detail, and compliance with AWI, ADA, hardware, and finish requirements.
  • Keep project files current and organized throughout the drafting process.
  • Present drafting progress in weekly leadership meetings.
  • Help shape drafting standards and process improvements within the department.

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma (required); Associate degree or drafting/CAD certificate (preferred).
  • 2โ€“5+ years of drafting experience in architectural millwork or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microvellum, or similar CAD platforms.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and construction documents with confidence.
  • Familiarity with AWI standards, ADA requirements, LEED documentation, and millwork hardware/finish specifications (a plus).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills-your team will rely on your clarity and direction.

Physical & Work Requirements

You should be comfortable with:

  • Prolonged sitting or standing at a workstation.
  • Traveling up to 20% for training or site-related tasks.
