Job description

An established and rapidly growing custom architectural millwork manufacturer is looking to add a Millwork Draftsman to their team. Draftsman will be responsible for starting and finishing submittal drawings accurately, on a timely basis, and in compliance with the quality standards of AWI and company standards. You will be working with a team of drafters, engineers and project managers to accomplish the tasks you are given. The job function also includes taking your approved shop drawings and processing through Microvellum for our manufacturing shop.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Accountable for the completeness, accuracy, and readability of all drawings assigned by the department manager utilizing AutoCAD/Microvellum, and other software
  • Produce submittal ready shop drawings which satisfy the project requirements, the company's needs/standards, & AWI grade requirements using AutoCAD/Microvellum
  • Proficient in the ability to interpret design documents. This includes both architectural and interior design drawings and specifications using digital pdf software (Bluebeam)
  • Review, analyze, and coordinate documents of related trades. This including kitchen equipment, structural, lighting, passage door frames, hardware, and owner equipment
  • Interpret estimating documents as compared to design and note discrepancies to director, PM, and manager
  • Understand AWI & company fabrication methods and depict those methods on the shop/production drawings
  • Uphold the drafting standards of the department
  • Responsible for creating code for the CNC and other manufacturing machinery using the software tools provided
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of shop/production drawings files.
  • Participation in design meetings
  • Knowledge of following is needed: basic math skills, coordinate system, 3D geometry, cabinetry, trim, and general construction practices

Requirements:

  • 5+ years AutoCAD experience
  • 1+ years millwork experience
  • Microvellum experience is a plus
