POSITION OVERVIEW

RiverCity Industries is seeking a Sheet Metal CAD Drafting Assistant to support our Lead CAD Draftsman and production team. This position is ideal for someone with working SolidWorks knowledge who wants to expand their skills in sheet metal design and manufacturing.

The CAD Drafting Assistant will help prepare and revise drawings, models, flat patterns, and production documentation under the direction of experienced team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assist with creating and revising 2D drawings and 3D SolidWorks models.
  • Prepare sheet metal parts, flat patterns, formed components, and tubing models.
  • Convert customer drawings, models, specifications, and physical components into production-ready files.
  • Update drawings and models based on customer, production, or engineering changes.
  • Verify dimensions, materials, tolerances, bend details, and drawing accuracy.
  • Assist with reverse engineering existing parts and components.
  • Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and supporting documentation.
  • Work with drafting, production, quality, and project management personnel to resolve drawing or manufacturing questions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings and dimensions.
  • Basic understanding of measurement tools and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, accept feedback, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn sheet metal design and fabrication practices.
  • Reliable attendance and professional communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous CAD, drafting, or SolidWorks experience.
