Job Title: Military Aircraft Technician / A&P Mechanic Trainee

Job Description

This role offers an excellent transition opportunity for recently separated military aircraft mechanics to apply their aviation maintenance experience in a corporate aircraft service center and 145 repair station environment. You will perform maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on fixed-wing aircraft, with a focus on developing skills specific to corporate aviation. The position emphasizes hands-on work on airframes, engines, avionics, electrical, structural, and hydraulic systems, while providing structured training and support toward earning an A&P license.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks on fixed-wing aircraft, with an emphasis on corporate aircraft platforms.
• Diagnose and repair a broad range of aircraft systems, including airframe, engines, structural components, avionics, electrical, and hydraulics.
• Carry out intermediate or depot-level maintenance using a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
• Remove, install, and properly secure aircraft panels and related components during maintenance and inspection activities.
• Conduct detailed aircraft and component inspections in accordance with applicable maintenance procedures and regulatory standards.
• Operate and test engines and auxiliary power units (APUs), including performing functional checks and verifying system performance.
• Troubleshoot aircraft faults and perform Fault Isolation Procedures (FIP) to identify and correct system discrepancies.
• Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and other test equipment to evaluate electrical and avionics systems.
• Operate aircraft tugs and ground support equipment safely to move aircraft and support maintenance operations.
• Follow written maintenance procedures, technical manuals, and work instructions to ensure accurate and compliant work.
• Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance personnel to complete tasks in a high-tempo environment while maintaining quality standards.
• Document maintenance actions, inspections, and repairs accurately and clearly as required by maintenance and regulatory processes.
• Actively participate in corporate aircraft maintenance training to develop new skills and adapt military experience to civilian aviation.
• Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and continuously improve technical capabilities in corporate aircraft maintenance.

Essential Skills

• At least 4+ years of military aircraft maintenance experience, with 5+ years preferred.
• History in aviation maintenance on fixed-wing aircraft, including jets or planes.
• Broad knowledge and hands-on experience repairing airframe, engines, structural, avionics, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience performing intermediate or depot-level maintenance using various hand and power tools.
• Proficiency in removing and installing aircraft panels and associated components.
• Experience conducting aircraft and component inspections in a maintenance environment.
• Ability to operate and test aircraft engines and auxiliary power units (APUs).
• Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting aircraft faults and performing Fault Isolation Procedures (FIP).
• Experience operating aircraft tugs and related ground support equipment.
• Military aircraft maintenance experience in one or more of the following specialties: USMC 60/61/62; Navy AM (Aviation Structural Mechanic) or AD (Aviation Machinist Mate); Army 15R/15T/15U; USAF 2A3 or 2A5; or similar aviation maintenance specialties.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work effectively in a high-tempo maintenance environment.
• Willingness to learn corporate aircraft maintenance procedures and adapt military skills to civilian aviation.
• Eligibility and motivation to pursue an A&P license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Tech 1 level aircraft maintenance experience is preferred.
• Experience with avionics and electrical systems, including use of multimeters and diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with auxiliary power units (APUs) and jet engine systems.
• Prior experience in depot-level maintenance environments.
• Exposure to air force or naval aviation maintenance practices.
• Interest in obtaining an A&P license, with the ability to complete required testing.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail in repair and inspection work.
• Ability to follow technical documentation and maintenance manuals accurately.
• Comfort working on a variety of aircraft platforms and adapting to new systems and technologies.

Work Environment

The role is based in a corporate aircraft service center and FAA Part 145 repair station, providing exposure to modern corporate aircraft and advanced maintenance practices. The position may involve weekend and night shifts, supported by pay differentials for these schedules. You will use a wide range of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, and standard aviation ground support equipment, while adhering to established safety procedures and maintenance standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
