Job description

Job Description
Sr. Quest Migration Engineer
Expectations: Long-term support for the M&A Migration Program. (Long-term engagement anticipated.)
Sr. Quest Migration Engineer Role Overview
We are seeking a Quest-certified Microsoft 365 Migration Engineer to support its recurring M&A migration program. This role will provide deep hands-on expertise across Quest migration tooling and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Exchange, Microsoft Entra ID, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
The engineer will serve as a trusted extension of the Client's internal migration team, helping establish repeatable migration baselines, independently resolve technical issues, and execute migrations with consistency and confidence. The role is expected to support a sustained program of 10 or more migrations per year.
Sr. Quest Migration Engineer Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain Quest migration baselines, configuration standards, runbooks, and reusable templates.
  • Plan, configure, execute, and validate Microsoft 365 migrations across Exchange, Entra ID, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Assess source and target environments, identify dependencies, and support readiness planning for each migration wave.
  • Troubleshoot Quest and Microsoft 365 migration issues independently, including synchronization, identity, permissions, mail flow, coexistence, and cutover challenges.
  • Coordinate with identity, messaging, collaboration, security, endpoint, networking, and business stakeholders.
  • Support pre-migration discovery, pilot migrations, production cutovers, post-migration validation, and issue resolution.
  • Document migration decisions, lessons learned, operating procedures, and technical recommendations.
  • Coach and enable the Client's internal team to increase self-sufficiency and reduce dependency on external resources.
Sr. Quest Migration Engineer Required Qualifications
  • Current Quest certification relevant to Microsoft 365 migration services.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience delivering Quest-based Microsoft 365 migrations.
  • Strong expertise across Exchange Online, Microsoft Entra ID, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams as an integrated suite.
  • Experience supporting tenant-to-tenant, organizational, or M&A-related migrations.
  • Ability to build migration baselines and standards without extensive oversight.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively across multiple technical and business teams.
Sr. Quest Migration Engineer Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft 365 or relevant Microsoft role-based certifications.
  • PowerShell and Microsoft 365 automation experience.
  • Experience with identity synchronization, hybrid environments, migration coexistence, and cutover planning.
  • Experience developing migration playbooks, training materials, and knowledge-transfer programs.
Success Measures
Success in this role will be measured by the engineer's ability to establish repeatable Quest baselines, resolve issues independently, reliably support 10 or more migrations per year, and extend the Client's internal team so it can execute end-user migrations with greater confidence and reduced dependency risk.
