To thrive as a Mid Level Remote Software Developer, you need proficiency in programming languages (such as JavaScript, Python, or Java), experience with software development methodologies, and a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS or Azure), and collaborative tools such as Jira or Slack is typically expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective written communication help you excel, especially in a remote environment. Job Title: Senior Software Engineer - AI Native Platform
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Remote - United States (Austin, Dallas, Houston)

ย

NON-NEGOTIABLE: AI-Driven Mindset ย | ย Daily use of AI coding assistants is a hard requirement. We build AI; we use AI.

About CloudBees

CloudBees enables enterprises to deliver scalable, compliant, and secure software - empowering developers to do their best work. Seamlessly integrating into any hybrid and heterogeneous environment, CloudBees is more than a tool; it is a strategic partner in your cloud transformation journey, ensuring security, compliance, and operational efficiency while enhancing the developer experience across your entire software development lifecycle. CloudBees supports organizations at every step of their DevSecOps journey, whether using Jenkins on-premise or transitioning software delivery to the cloud. We are helping customers build the future, today.

About the Role

CloudBees is building the next generation of AI-native DevOps infrastructure, and we are looking for Senior Software Engineers who bring deep technical craft, a velocity-first mindset, and genuine excitement about building with and for AI. You will work in a fast-moving, high-trust engineering environment where your code ships to production and your ideas shape the roadmap. This role sits at the heart of our platform engineering effort.

Your Mission: Build the scalable, intelligent, and developer-first platform that powers CloudBees' mid-market growth engine. You will contribute across the full stack - from core pipeline intelligence and data architecture to API design and agentic orchestration - shipping working software fast and continuously improving what you build.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and ship high-quality, production-grade features across the CloudBees platform to address customer concerns with rapid turnaround
  • Build AI-augmented workflows, integrations, and intelligent services that reduce friction for development teams
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Intelligence Solutions Architecting to translate customer pain into scalable technical solutions
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews with a focus on velocity, reliability, and maintainability
  • Actively use AI coding assistants and LLM-powered development tools to accelerate delivery
  • Write automated tests, maintain CI/CD pipeline hygiene, and hold a high bar for code quality
  • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence - through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 2 years in a senior or equivalent role
  • Proficiency in one or more of: Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript at a production scale
  • Experience building and operating distributed systems, APIs, or cloud-native services
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices - not familiarity, but fluency
  • Experience with DevOps toolchains (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Tekton, ArgoCD, or equivalent)
  • Background in test intelligence, flaky test detection, CI observability, or software quality infrastructure
  • Active daily use of AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Codeium, or equivalent) - this is non-negotiable
  • Strong sense of ownership - you ship, monitor, and own what you build
  • Excellent async communication skills; this is a distributed team

Preferred (not required):

  • Experience building ML pipelines, feature stores, or intelligent data systems
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or equivalent)
  • Prior work in a startup or high-growth engineering environment

Our Culture: The G.R.I.T. Squad

We are a team that values grit, innovation, and customer-centricity. Through trust, collaboration, and an entrepreneurial spirit, we aim to be the 1% that consistently delivers transformative solutions and exceptional customer outcomes.

Growth: Striving to better ourselves, the team, the product, and the company through continuous innovation and learning.

Resilience: Bouncing back from setbacks and staying strong in the face of adversity. We do not fold - we adapt and push forward.

Integrity: Being honest, ethical, and consistent in our actions and words. Trust is the foundation of everything we build.

Teamwork: Working collaboratively and supporting one another to achieve collective success. Great Results In Teamwork.

How We Measure Success Together

  • Collaboration: Success is measured by how well we communicate openly, leverage each other's strengths, and create outcomes no individual could achieve alone.
  • Accountability: We follow through on commitments. We own our results - the good and the hard - and we use both to grow.
  • Customer-Centricity: Every decision we make is traced back to a customer need. Customer satisfaction, loyalty, and feedback are our north star.

What Will Make You Successful

Beyond technical skills and experience, the people who thrive on the G.R.I.T. Squad shares a common set of traits. If these describe you, we want to meet you:

  • You ship production code in your first 5 days
  • You use AI tools not just to write code, but to think about architecture, review PRs, and debug faster
  • You raise the quality floor around you - your code reviews are valuable, not perfunctory
  • You have a bias for action: you prefer a good solution shipped today over a perfect one shipped next quarter
  • You communicate proactively, flag blockers early, and never disappear into a work queue
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Pay Range: $180,000 - $205,000 annually. In accordance with applicable law, this represents a reasonable estimated compensation range for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location and may be more or less than the amount shown above. Outside of base compensation, CloudBees also offer stock options and variable bonuses.ย
  • What CloudBees Offers:
    • Health Insurance
    • Dental Insurance
    • Vision Insurance
    • Short & Long Term Disability
    • Life Insurance
    • HSA/FSA
    • Remote Work Environment
