Overview
LMI is actively seeking a dynamic, experienced Mid-level Back-End Software Developer to join LMI's Space Market software development team in Colorado Springs, CO. This role involves working directly with USSF and US Government customers, as well as analytical partners, to drive the development of responsive, high-performance user interfaces within LMI's Modeling, Simulation, Prototyping, Wargaming, & Analysis platform, RAPTR®.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain server-side logic to power application functionality, handle user requests, and manage data.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs for internal and external communication.
  • Create and optimize database schemas, write efficient queries, and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Participate in code reviews, debug developed code and stay current with software development trends.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate back-end functionality with user interfaces.
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Contribute to the scalability and performance optimization of back-end systems.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation for back-end systems and APIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and refine system architecture, interfaces, and data models in an agile environment.
  • Actively collaborate in cross-functional engineering working groups to review, assess, and mature software artifacts such as system architecture, system behavior, system interfaces and requirements, software test plans, UI/UX designs, functional allocation, Interface Control Documents/Descriptions (ICDs), and data models.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent STEM field with 3-8 years of experience (2-7 years with Master's degree) in back-end software development
  • Proficiency in either SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases.
  • Experience with back-end technologies (Rust, Python, Java) within agile development frameworks
  • Familiarity with back-end frameworks like Django, Flask, Spring, or Express.js.
  • Experience with API development and integration and collaborating with front-end developers.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of software performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks for back-end applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • US Citizenship required, eligible for TS clearance.

Desired:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility or prior experience working on government-related projects
  • Space domain experience and familiarity with space-focused software solutions.

Target salary range: $101,000- $174,000
