Job description

Mid-level Attorney - Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Houston, United States | Posted on 09/23/2025 We are seeking a mid-level associate to join our Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group. This position is open to any of our firm locations with a strong preference for our Atlanta, Denver, Houston, St. Louis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, or San Francisco offices.

Interested candidates must possess a high level of academic achievement, solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and superb writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess at least 3 years of relevant experience in patent preparation and prosecution and hold a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or physics. Preferred Experience Patent prosecution in either electrical engineering or software-related technologies, including machine learning/artificial intelligence/neural networks.

Hardware and/or communications security (e.g., encryption/decryption). Application Requirements Cover letter, resume, law school and undergraduate transcripts (including graduate when applicable), and a writing sample. J.D., active bar admission in the jurisdiction in which the candidate intends to practice.

Admission to the USPTO. Compensation Salary will range between $240,000 - $365,000 annually, depending on experience. A discretionary bonus may also be available based on performance.
