Job description

Description:
  • Shape, cut, rod, and finish shotcrete to final pool shell geometry including: steps, benches, ledges, coves, radii, beam tops, and bond beams, tile line accuracy and consistency, uniform plaster thickness allowance
  • Ensure finished shell meets company tolerances for: Dimensions, Elevations, Slopes and transitions
  • Finish shotcrete with consideration for downstream trades including tile, coping, and plaster to prevent rework, thickness issues, or aesthetic defects.
  • Proficiency with hand tools used in shotcrete finishing including rods, slickers, floats, trowels, straightedges, and specialty shaping tools.
  • Ability to visually read lines, planes, and radii without reliance on constant measurement.
  • Understand and interpret construction drawings to ensure accurate shotcrete application, proper coverage, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Inspect the form and surrounding area to ensure all the reinforcement (rebar, concrete substrate, masonite, etc.) is properly installed and ready for shotcrete.
  • Take ownership of the final shotcrete shell quality, geometry, and finish prior to curing.
  • Self-inspect finished work and correct deficiencies before leaving the jobsite.
  • Set up, operate, and clean shotcrete equipmentโ€”primarily for swimming pools, with occasional work on other heavy construction projects.
  • Assist the crew and nozzleman as required, including but not limited to material handling, equipment setup, and cleanup.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with site staff, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with site safety policies and procedures.
  • May perform other related pool construction duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to understand project specifications and requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to shotcrete application.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Assist in building forms or structures as necessary for shotcrete application


Work Environment:

  • Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions and be exposed to varying temperatures (high and low) and loud noises.
  • Must be able to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and manipulate objects, reach with hands and arms, lift above the head, bend to the waist, squat, talk, hear, and lift, move or push up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include near, far, and color vision. Ascend or descend stairs and ladders, as well as walk on uneven terrain.


COMPENSATION - Mid-American Gunite Pools and Service has a very competitive total compensation package as outlined below:

  • Competitive wages - The pay range for this position is based on relevant experience and is competitive but is expected to start at $25 - $30 per hour.
  • Healthcare benefits โ€“ 100% company paid premiums for employee (~$7,000 cost to co.) Family healthcare insurance is available at cost.
  • Dental benefits โ€“ 100% company paid premiums for employee (~$400 cost to co.) Family dental insurance is available at cost.
  • $10,000 company paid life insurance with additional voluntary life available at employee expense.
  • 401k plan with a 4% company match if the employee contributes 5%.
  • Vision, STD/LTD available at employee expense.
  • Company work vehicles and uniforms provided.
Requirements:

Requirements for all:

  • Be at our facility in Erlanger, KY, M-F, ready to work at 6 or 7AM (job start time varies), work required overtime.
  • Requires ability to ambulate, use of both arms and legs, bending, and lifting tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Knowledge, experience, or aptitude for basic plumbing, electrical, construction equipment, and tool use.

Required Qualifications for this position:

  • Prior experience finishing shotcrete or gunite for swimming pools, water features, or similarly detailed concrete structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and finish complex curved and dimensional concrete surfaces.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicating clearly and professionally with crew members.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks requiring strength and stamina.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Must have working knowledge of forming, grades and screeding of shotcrete surfaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.

Other Requirements:

  • Criminal background check required, but a criminal record does not necessarily negate employment.
  • Clean motor vehicle report and current driver's license required to be insured and operate company vehicle.
  • Drug screen NOT required for employment but can be required subsequently if warranted.
