Come help us deliver cutting-edge Analytics Platforms with the power of AI and automation!
The Tech@Lilly Team is Actively Looking for an experienced BI Platform Administrator.
Are you passionate about operating highly available analytics platforms, driving automation, and establishing strong governance frameworks? Are you energized by leading enterprise-scale deployments and optimizing end-to-end BI performance? If so, bring YOUR technical expertise to Lilly-where your work helps accelerate scientific discovery, strengthen decision-making, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing:
You will serve as an Analytics Platform Administrator for Lilly's Power BI/Fabric platform-operating and administering the environment day to day, ensuring platform reliability, and enabling secure and scalable analytics adoption across the organization. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure, database, cloud (Azure & AWS), networking, firewall and security teams to integrate platforms into a modern analytics ecosystem. You will also help drive platform optimization, automation, and operational excellence across global environments.
How You'll Succeed:
  • Lead installation, upgrades, and large-scale deployments of Fabric/Power BI Report Server and Fabric/Power BI Service across Dev, QA, and Production environments.
  • Design and maintain high-availability, clustered, and failover configurations to support enterprise BI workloads.
  • Plan and execute patches, security updates, and version upgrades with minimal business disruption.
  • Perform regular Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), including but not limited to certificate renewals, password rotations, security patching, and quality document and SharePoint article updates.
  • Optimize Fabric/Power BI Gateway performance, Dataflow efficiency, and dataset refresh reliability.
  • Define, implement, and enforce governance for workspaces, datasets, reports, permissions, and content lifecycle management.
  • Perform regular audits and generate insights on usage, refresh schedules, performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Develop automation scripts and DevOps pipelines using Fabric/Power BI REST APIs, PowerShell, and related tools to reduce manual administrative effort.
  • Implement automated inventory management, monitoring, and usage tracking.
  • Partner with infrastructure, network, database, cloud, and security teams to troubleshoot complex issues and improve platform stability.
  • Support integrations across Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and hybrid environments.
  • Lead capacity planning, platform scaling, performance tuning, and resource optimization initiatives.
  • Mentor junior administrators, establish SOPs, and drive standard methodologies for platform operations.
  • Act as the platform SME for day-to-day Fabric/Power BI operations, governance, and upgrades-supporting stakeholders, assessing operational risks, and communicating platform status.

What You Should Bring:
  • Deep understanding of Fabric/Power BI architecture, including capacity management, HA/DR strategies, and system integration patterns.
  • Proven ability to optimize dataset refresh, gateway performance, and BI workload distribution.
  • In-depth expertise with On-Premises Data Gateways-including architecture internals, installation, detailed configuration (clustering, service accounts, network ports, proxy settings), performance tuning, troubleshooting, and certificate/credential management across enterprise environments.
  • Expert-level ability to generate, collect, and analyze diagnostic logs for both Microsoft Fabric (capacity metrics, workspace activity, Spark logs, pipeline run logs) and On-Premises Data Gateways (gateway logs, mashup engine logs, performance counters) to support incident investigation and proactive health monitoring.
  • Strong networking fundamentals as applied to Fabric and Power BI SaaS deployments-including firewall rules, private endpoints, Azure Service Tags, proxy configurations, DNS resolution, and Azure Service Bus Relay behavior-with the ability to partner effectively with Network teams to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Expertise using PowerShell, Fabric/Power BI REST API, and automation methods for large-scale administrative tasks.
  • Advanced SQL skills for troubleshooting, data validation, and performance analysis.
  • Experience managing enterprise identity, security models, and SSO integrations (AD, Azure AD).
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure and AWS cloud platforms, including the ability to deploy, modify, and manage Fabric capacity resources in Azure using GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows; proficiency with GitHub operations including script modifications, pull/push, branching, merging, and creating pull requests.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into administrative and configuration changes.
  • Preferred experience administering BI tools such as Spotfire or SAP Business Objects.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or equivalent ticketing systems.

Basic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3+years of experience administering Fabric/Power BI platforms.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Fabric/Power BI Service and Power BI Report Server administration.
  • Experienced with SQL capability
  • Experience with PowerShell and Fabric/Power BI REST API.
  • Experience supporting enterprise BI operations, migrations, and DR planning.
