Job description

Job Title: Microsoft Exchange Engineer
Location: Flexible (Remote or Onsite)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
This position is responsible for leading the design, deployment, and optimization of Microsoft Exchange environments, both on-premises and cloud-based. The role requires deep expertise in email infrastructure, hybrid configurations, and enterprise-scale messaging systems. The successful candidate will also contribute to automation efforts, policy development, and system health monitoring, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and efficient operations.
Primary Responsibilities
• Architect and implement Microsoft Exchange solutions, including hybrid and cloud-based deployments
• Act as the technical lead for email infrastructure, supporting migrations and upgrades
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and ensure overall health of messaging environments
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to define and enforce email-related policies
• Develop PowerShell scripts and automation tools to improve operational efficiency
• Maintain up-to-date documentation, including architecture diagrams and standard operating procedures
• Track and assess the impact of Microsoft platform updates and changes
• Manage external dependencies and integrations, such as applications utilizing messaging or transport services
Required Experience
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience; typically 5+ years preferred
• Proven background in managing Exchange environments in enterprise settings
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Exchange Server (2016/2019) and Exchange Online
• Experience with hybrid deployments and Microsoft 365 migrations
• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for administration and automation
• Familiarity with email security platforms (e.g., Proofpoint, Mimecast, Microsoft
Defender)
• Solid grasp of Active Directory, DNS, and core networking principles
• Strong analytical and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MS-203, or legacy MCSE: Messaging
• Experience with Microsoft 365 compliance and retention policy management
• Knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) and mobile email access
• Exposure to ITIL frameworks and service management platforms like ServiceNow
