Sr. Engineering Systems Administrator – Microsoft 365

Location: Irvine, CA 92614 (5 days on-site)

Responsibilities Architecture & Engineering
  • Design and implement enterprise‑grade Microsoft 365 solutions, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and Entra ID.
  • Lead architecture decisions for hybrid and cloud‑first environments.
  • Develop and maintain identity and access strategies (SSO, MFA, Conditional Access).
Administration & Operations
  • Manage and maintain the M365 tenant, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Oversee user lifecycle management, licensing, and service configurations.
  • Monitor service health and proactively resolve issues.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement and manage security solutions including Microsoft Defender and compliance tools.
  • Configure Data Loss Prevention, retention policies, eDiscovery, and insider risk controls.
  • Ensure adherence to security standards and regulatory requirements.
Identity & Access Management
  • Administer Entra ID (Azure AD), including Conditional Access, identity protection, and RBAC.
  • Manage hybrid identity integrations with on‑prem Active Directory.
  • Implement modern authentication and certificate‑based access.
Collaboration & Productivity
  • Optimize Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive for business productivity.

Incident Management
  • Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions.
Governance & Documentation
  • Define policies, standards, and best practices for M365 usage.
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/IS or equivalent practical experience; 10+ years in IT Systems Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 administration and engineering.
  • Microsoft Certification is desired.
  • ITIL awareness highly preferred.
  • Core Microsoft 365 Platform expertise:
    • Architecture, licensing, tenant management.
    • Exchange Online (mail flow, connectors, hybrid setup, security).
    • SharePoint Online (sites, permissions, governance).
    • Microsoft Teams (voice, meetings, policies, integrations).
    • OneDrive (sync, sharing controls, retention).
    • Identity & Access Management (Entra ID, hybrid identity, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC).
    • Security & Compliance (Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Purview, DLP, Insider Risk, eDiscovery, Data Protection).
    • Modern authentication, certificate‑based access, Azure AD Connect, federation, Zero Trust.
    • Governance strategies, external sharing, B2B collaboration.
    • DNS (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC), Certificates & TLS, firewalls, proxies, endpoints.
Salary Range

$110,000 – $125,000
