Inside Sales Representative

Location: East Houston
Reports To: Inside Sales Manager

Bayou Processing & Storage is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Inside Sales Representative to manage assigned customer accounts and coordinate orders from receipt through shipment. This position serves as the primary liaison between customers and internal departments, ensuring orders are processed accurately, production schedules are communicated effectively, and customers receive exceptional service throughout the order lifecycle.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, is highly organized, and enjoys building strong customer relationships while coordinating with multiple departments to deliver outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Account Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts.
  • Build strong customer relationships through responsive, professional communication.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding orders, inventory, production status, pricing, and shipping.
  • Communicate order updates, schedule changes, and production delays in a timely manner.

Order & Production Coordination

  • Enter and maintain customer orders accurately within the ERP system.
  • Review purchase orders for pricing, specifications, packaging, and shipping requirements.
  • Coordinate order changes with Production Scheduling and Operations.
  • Monitor production progress to ensure customer commitments are met.
  • Ensure required documentation is complete before production begins.

Shipping & Inventory

  • Coordinate shipments with customers and transportation providers.
  • Schedule truck appointments and verify shipping documentation.
  • Monitor customer inventory levels and assist with inventory inquiries or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate expedited shipments when required.

Commercial & Administrative Support

  • Coordinate pricing requests with the Commercial Sales team and communicate approved quotations to customers.
  • Maintain accurate customer files, work orders, shipping documents, and electronic records.
  • Work closely with Accounting, Quality, Production, and Shipping to ensure seamless order execution.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Required

  • Outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Knowledge of steel processing, inventory management, production scheduling, or shipping logistics is a plus.
  • Two or more years of experience in customer service, inside sales, account management, or a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Preferred

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in steel processing, metals, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and performing job duties.
