Job Description - Overview
Hobby Lobby is currently in search of a self-motivated analyst/developer with solid experience doing database design and development with 3-5 + years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server.
This is an in-person office position in Oklahoma City, located on a 1,000+ acre campus with an on-site clinic and pharmacy.
Title - Database Developer
Primary Functions/Job Description
  • Work with development team, project managers, and business analysts to determine requirements and develop solutions to meet business goals
  • Development of stored procedures, functions, and other user-defined objects
  • Optimization of in-house and third-party database applications
  • Prepare appropriate user and technical documentation for assigned development projects
  • Provide escalated support of production environment including shared after-hours rotation
  • Lead design and code reviews for internal development teams as well as 3rd party vendors

Job Description - Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Professional experience using Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2019, and 2022
  • Skilled in all facets of the T/SQL language including advanced features in 2019 and 2022
  • Proficient in database design and E/R modeling
  • Experience accessing SQL methods using .NET data providers (ADO, entity framework, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of indexing and best practices for tuning SQL queries
  • Experience reading, understanding and making improvements based upon Execution Plans
  • Understanding of the SQL engine (transaction log, buffer manager, plan vs. data cache)
  • Experience using source control (preferably Git, Vault or Team Foundation Server)
  • Familiarity with SQL Reporting and Integration services
  • Knowledgeable in SQL Server administration, virtualization and performance considerations
  • Degree in MIS or computer science
Preferred Skills
  • .Net programming preferably using C# and MVC
  • Experience using SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) and Visual Studio
  • Familiar with Object Relational Modeling (ORM)
  • Basic understanding of advanced SQL functions including Availability Groups (and other H/A methodologies), Service Broker, Table Partitioning, Columnstore, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Systems Center (SCOM and SCCM), Host Integration Services and PowerShell
  • Involvement with SQL Server Azure Services or database management on other cloud platforms
  • Understanding of IBM DB2, Sybase Unwired Platform, Postgres, OData, MySQL, Access and Oracle
