Job description

Job Description:
The Biology Lab Supervisor oversees the lab preparation for all microbiology and organismal biology labs in the biology curriculum, including lab planning in consultation with faculty, training and supervision of student lab assistants, preparation of reagents, set-up and break-down of supplies and equipment, care of the Biology department animals and any activities related to the ongoing operation of the labs. Labs will include the areas of microbiology, anatomy and physiology, ecology, and zoology. Responsibilities may also include instruction of one lab section each semester, depending on qualifications of the applicant. Compensation for teaching will be added at the rate of an adjunct professor.
Requirements
-Master's Degree in Biology is required. (Bachelor's Degree in Biology and equivalent experience is sufficient, but is not eligible for additional teaching compensation)
-A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a biology laboratory, academic setting, or similar environment is required.
-Training in microbiology techniques and methodology is required, in addition to strong verbal and written communication skills, solid analytical skills, knowledge of statistics and research design, computer proficiency, and some supervisory experience. Familiarity with field biology methods, specimen identification and basic molecular methods, such as PCR is preferred.
