Job description

Function as an ultrasonographer in all aspects and duties of the job performance and expectation requirements. Perform quality imaging studies using diagnostic ultrasound and assure safe and appropriate patient care. Maintain ultrasound equipment and coordinate repairs as needed
Maintain all licensure and regulatory requirements. Other related duties as assigned that support the Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Minimum of three years’ experience in ultrasound with 1-year experience performing obstetrical ultrasound studies in a Maternal Fetal Medicine setting required. Must be RDMS registered. Must have a solid knowledge base of anatomy and physiology, hemodynamics and pathophysiology as related to non-invasive obstetrical testing.

Responsibilities:

  • The MFM Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasounds in the following areas: abdominal, OB/GYN, transvaginal.
  • The MFM Ultrasound Technologist uses ultrasound equipment to help create quality images for obstetrical and gynecologic physicians to interpret during exams.
  • The MFM Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for providing an advanced level of sonography services for women experiencing a high risk pregnancy and their unborn babies.
  • MFM Ultrasonographer performs additional duties related to maintenance of regulatory standards, handling and management of ultrasound equipment and staff training.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Inventories and orders supplies
  • Supports department staff on special projects as necessary
  • Educates existing and incoming department staff and shares knowledge when appropriate
  • Follows all governing guidelines set forth by organizations such as the Joint Commission, NYSDOH, AIUM
  • Follows departmental and organizational policies
  • Sets up and adjusts ultrasound equipment
  • Educates patients about their testing
  • Verifies the accuracy of patient information using a minimum of two patient identifiers
  • Performs technical data entry and documentation as required by policy
  • Collaborates with Operations’ Manager to efficiently and appropriately schedule patient appointments
  • Precepts new sonographers
  • Collaborates with MFM nurse to ensure the best possible patient experience as related to safety and patient satisfaction
  • Is the liaison between the practice and the ultrasound manufacturer to coordinate equipment PM and repairs and to arrange for loaner equipment if needed to maintain practice volume
  • Is responsible for application and maintenance of AIUM certification and recertification
  • Accurately performs high level disinfection of transvaginal ultrasound probes using the Trophon automated reprocessor including pre-cleaning and proper storage of probes
  • All other duties as assigned by Practice Administrator

Salary Range:  $ 36.07-$54.10   /hour  Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the state.
