Purpose
The Metrology Programmer creates, maintains, and optimizes inspection programs and templates across PC-DMIS, ZEISS Inspect, and PolyWorks for CMMs, portable arms, and GOM/ATOS optical systems. This role not only builds robust, efficient programs but also performs hands-on inspections, operates advanced metrology equipment, and supports technicians with reporting and data validation as needed.
Acting as both a technical anchor and a collaborative guide, the Metrology Programmer ensures inspection accuracy, drives standardization, manages programming priorities, and elevates team capability. Through deep expertise, disciplined execution, and a steady presence on the floor, this role enables precise, compliant measurement results that uphold engineering requirements and strengthen production quality.
The Role
  • Develop, edit, and maintain metrology programs/templates across CMMs, portable arms, and optical systems to drive consistency and efficiency.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using CMMs, portable arms, GOM/ATOS, and conventional tools to verify parts against CAD and engineering requirements.
  • Interpret and apply engineering documentation, including 2D drawings, 3D models, GD&T, and related specifications.
  • Support and prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with internal and industry standards.
  • Review and validate supplier and subcontractor FAIRs and production inspection records when required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet quality, throughput, and delivery targets.
  • Guide and mentor technicians on program execution, workflow standards, and proper equipment use/maintenance.
  • Clearly communicate non-conformances and inspection results to Manufacturing, Engineering, and leadership.
  • Maintain and improve standard program libraries, templates, and best practices to elevate metrology capability.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support overall quality objectives and cross-functional alignment.
Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • Well demonstrated experience with 2D and 3D inspections using a CMM, preferably utilizing PCDMS, Hexagon and GOM-ATOS inspection software applications
  • Working knowledge of inspection and documentation procedures
  • Ability to interpret GD&T and engineering drawing
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse team members
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and streamline day-to-day operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Machining Shop experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
Work Environment
  • This role is based in a dynamic manufacturing setting and may require standing and handling precision equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Company Uniform must be worn while working.
  • PPE must be worn while working.
Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels S04 - S05 as evaluated through our interview process.
  • Specialist / S04: $46.00 - $63.00
  • Senior Specialist / S05: $110,160.00 - $151,470.00
